Lagos is one of the Algarve’s most attractive and historic towns.

The centre is enclosed in largely 14th century walls. Within the city walls you can find some beautiful street art.

Lagos has the proximity to some of the region’s best beaches.
To the east is the long sweep of Meia Praia, you only have to take the small boat to cross the water to walk to the dunes.
Further to the west, you’ll find the series of coves, caves and rock stacks and small beaches for which the Algarve is best known.

what to do with leftover yarn

wood & wool blanket wood & wool baby blanket 2010

The perfect way to use your leftover yarn!

A multicolored baby blanket. The first one I already made in 2010. Over the years I have made quite a lot, in all possible color combinations.
The pattern is available in my E T S Y - S H O P and you can find a lot of different versions on my blog, when you search for baby blanket inspiration!

Make someone happy with a handmade gift, while you clean up your wool cabinet.

Le Bric à Brac in the woods of Vuren last Saturday.
It was a très French event.

Lots of Citroën cars, 2CV (i had one some years ago and still miss it), DS and HY.
The were lot's of brocante booths and many visitors, despite the (not very French) rainy weather. The green (wet) E is now part of our vintage letter collection.

Almost at the end of the market, I spotted this friendly french bicycle, elegant and white as you see them in France during summer holidays.

It was bike love at first sight.

J'adore cette jolie bicyclette!

the wooden barn

On Ile de Ré we spotted deux chevaux everywhere.

Oh how I missed my old gray 2CV when hearing the familiar pleasant sound.

This cute photo of two years ago, when the 2cv participated in a wood & wool stool photoshoot, brings back happy memories.

deux jours a paris

There's always plenty of things to discover in Paris.
First of all, traveling with Thalys seemed a relief (7am departure from Rotterdam and at 9.30am drinking coffee on a terrace near Gare du Nord)
This time we walked 'all' the little side streets in le Marais.
Merci is a new favorite(!) and we had a wonderful lunch in the basement. At the end of the day we checked in at Mama Shelter, a cool hotel right behind Père Lachaise.
After dinner we had a midnight visit at the Eiffel Tower.
The next morning we walked via Pont Neuf (haven't participated the "love locks" craze) to Saint Germain.
We walked a marathon in two days (luckily I was smart enough to wear my red Adidas) and tired but satisfied we were happy to relax for some hours on the train.

2cv-van

Last year I sold my old grey 2cv.
Whenever I see a 2CV on the road, I still miss my car and I'm planning to buy another oldtimer.
Especially on summer days (like today, yay!) I miss the open canvas roof, which you can roll up and change the car within a minute into a real convertible.
Yesterday Henk brought me this paper version of a 2cv van.

off to see the world

off to see the world, originally uploaded by wood & wool stool.

Pippa has just helped me to choose 3 winners of the ‘ wood & word sign Pink Ribbon supporting give away’.
Here they are in random order:

[de rotbende]
[perfectly peachy]
[wood if I could]

We both agreed Orange Farmhouse should have two signs
[digger] and [orange farmhouse]

Please send your address to info@woodwoolstool.com and the signs will be send to you straightaway.

Last week I received an awesome 2cv from Annabelle of Three Red Apples!

The car appliqued and freehand embroidered is a classic French Citroën 2CV. It’s fully loaded with suitcases on the roof ready to cross borders and explore.

The body of the car is made from a blue pattern printed in the heart of the Welsh countryside and appliqued onto natural Irish linen. The suitcases are made from various recycled and new fabrics.

Absolutely love the 2cv with the upper suitcase in my favorite color orange! I have not yet found the right parking place, so until then my brandnew ducky is parked on the stairs.
