I like to dress in layers and wear a hodgepodge of styles.
A tartan skirt, denim, stripes, woolen cardigan, multicolored beanie and boots with socks.
I don't care if it doesn't actually goes together.
Everything is possible, as long as you like it.

wooly winter wear

wooly winter wear wooly winter wear wooly winter wear

Winter has begun. At long last.
Today was the first cold day in the Netherlands.
No snow in our hometown yet, but certainly cold enough to wear warm woolen mittens & beanie.
Let it freeze... (for several weeks)

dress & beanie

knitted sweater dress knitted sweater dress knitted sweater dress old school knitted sweater dress knitted sweater dress old school old school

Tomorrow I'm off to Marrakech.

You can follow our adventures during the Cool Crochet Workshop on Instagram @woodwoolstool.

Yesterday I received lots of cool comments on the sweaterdress-post and even more questions about the beanie I was wearing.
It's from Marrakech, made by Aisha and I will bring back some more beanies this time.
When I'm back I will also write down the pattern of the beanie soon, so you can make one yourself.

If you would like to knit your own sweater dress you can find the P A T T E R N in my Etsy shop. It's also possible to write me an email for the pattern (info@woodwoolstool.com).

rock a beanie

handmade beanieswool from the soukdordrecht

The colored wool from the souk I bought in Marrakech last year, was hanging in strands on the wall, simply being beautiful.

The strands were a bit messy and winding up bulbs was a disastrous job #*$%@&^#)#!
How did this happen? Well, at long last I had a dozen of balls of each color.

Time for the fun part. Making beanies the moroccan way, like Aisha teached us on the Place des Epices during the Cool Crochet Workshop.

I will bring some handmade beanies to the Sunday market 'De Fabriek op Zondag' at the Piet Hein Eek Factory in Eindhoven on the 31st of May.

A beanie can camouflage a bad hair day and keeps your head cozy. Whatever the weather. There's something else you should know; if you rock your beanie the right way, you will roll into any situation in style...

April 26, Marrakech;

♦ after breakfast first a cheerful group photo in the small street near the riad
♦ a morning stroll through the souk, when it's still peaceful and quite
♦ arrival on the Places des Epices, our crochet stage for this morning
♦ introduction to our friendly Moroccan crochet teacher Aisha
♦ Moroccan crochet class on the Place des Epices, below the parasol
♦ another hook, another technique, it is not that easy...
♦ after a few hours, everyone has a 'piece of Moroccan crochet'
♦ everyone purchasing some (or more) of the handmade colorful beanies from Aisha as a souvenir
♦ after this new experience, we had a super tasteful lunch on a lovely roof terrace in the middle of the souk
♦ shopping & strolling in the souk on our way back to Chambres d'Amis
♦ could not resist the cookies and bought a box of beautiful and delicious delights at a gorgeous cookies stall
♦ at the end of a hot day with a lot of effort, it was wonderful to relax in the riad

brown beanie

brown beaniebrown beaniebrown beaniebrown beaniebrown beaniebrown beanie

Friday night I've knitted my brown beanie in less than three hours.
I love these kind of small projects. With wooden needles size 15(!) and thick wool, knitting goes like a rocket.

For me it was ages ago since I've been knitting and I really enjoyed making this brown beanie. Thanks we are knitters™ for the knitting experience!
