unique piece for sale

huge harlequin blanket pattern

Cold and grey winter days are making it impossibly hard to get out of bed in the morning.

It's a luxury during the cold winter nights to grab an extra blanket.

This unique harlequin blanket is now for sale in my Etsy shop!
It was a HUGE(!) job to make this bohemian & eclectic blanket, but nevertheless made with a whole lot of love.

The size of this blanket is 235 x 225 cm.

The colors, patterns and textures give your bedroom an instant dash of cheer.

When you don't mind to crochet all those huge harlequins yourself, you can also download the huge harlequin blanket pattern from my Etsy shop.

It's quite a challenge for enthusiastic and eager crochet queens.
A smaller version is easy to handle for everyone and perfect to use all your yarn leftovers.

Cheers to a new week and keep yourself warm!

This week it's freezing cold and the huge woolen the blanket is very useful, as an extra warm layer over the duvet.

You can make a huge harlequin blanket, but also a mini baby blanket and everything in between. The size of the blanket is easy to adjust to any desired size. harlequin herringbone pattern

woodwoolstool harlequin herringbone pattern

A new design.

The harlequin herringbone pattern.
My two favorite patterns meet each other in a new project.

Well new? I have started making a whole lot of white harlequin this summer and in the meantime I've done a lot of side projects, but this week I finally finished the new rug. Also to be used as a blanket.

I'm really excited how it turned out.

I've written the pattern and included a lot of photo's, so you can make your own harlequin herringbone rug or -blanket.

You can find the harlequin herringbone pattern in my E T S Y shop.

New on the attic.

A super cute vintage cabinet. Finally a functional and fancy way to store my favorite lingerie.

The moroccan rug I brought home from Marrakech in October, is absolutely in the right place in our attic bedroom.

small shells paradise

summer shells summer shells portugal 2015 portugal 2015 portugal 2015

Shells from the best souvenir shop we have ever visited, last summer in Portugal.

Imagine a shop full of shells, rocks and fossils. The owner was an old hippy who made the chains and mobiles himself. His shop was great, classic music in the background and special paintings on the wall (not for sale). He looked very happy and was so proud of his shop and showed us his bedroom on the mezzanine of the building, very romantic and totally zen.

blanket from the beach

beach finds

One day on the beach at the Praia do Meco, we were surprised by a visit of a trader in Indian blankets.
We were just about the only ones on the beach and the sweet and patient trader, showcased all his beautiful colorful blankets on the beach for us (at least 15 pieces)
It was a splendid sight, all those multicolored block printed fabrics in the open on the sand.
We picked two blankets, one for us and the other one for my friend Rosa.
He kissed the money and was very happy he sold two blankets, neatly folded all the other cloths again and walked on across the deserted beach.

The blue peacock blanket is showing off in our attic room. I'm sure we will always remember the special way we bought it. I love those kind of souvenirs.
The memory makes the Indian block print fabric even more beautiful.

pineapple love affair

wood & wool pineapple rugwood & wool pineapple rug wood & wool pineapple rug

The pineapple rug is finished! (the plume of the pineapple seemed endless...)

I happen to have a soft spot for pineapples (that you will have noticed)

During the making of the pineapple pillow, I immediately had in mind to begin a major pineapple project.

The spools of fabric yarn in perfect colors were already 'waiting' in the cabinet.
Hey, I mean a lilac plume, what could be more beautiful?

Do you feel like freshen up your place with a pineapple rug?
You can find the pattern in my E T S Y shop.

All you need is 5 spools of fabric yarn, a 12 mm crochet hook and within a few weeks you will have a fruity rug on the floor. (plus free biceps workout)

pineapple rug

pineapple rug

Remember T H I S?

The pineapple on the floor is now about halfway up the plume and i’m in love with all of it!
The colors, the p a t t e r n, the textural appearance, even the structure resembles a real pineapple.

Still not sure whether the pineapple will end on the wall or on the floor.
I imagine it will look smashing upon the wall, however a pineapple rug is an option too, because the fabric feels so soft to bare feet...

no more cold feet

wood & wool harlequin rug pattern

I've made this harlequin rug with homemade fabric yarn, using piles of old T-shirts of me and my family (with their approval). It's cheap, although I have to admit it's a lot of cutting.

It's a lovely do-it-yourself autumn project.

If you want to make this bedside rug for your home, all you need is a hook size 12 and a huge pile of old T-shirt or about 2000 grams of fabric yarn.

Eversince I made my first harlequin rug, I get lots of questions about the pattern, so the 10-page PATTERN of this harlequin rug is now available in my Etsy shop!

No more cold feet when you step out of bed.

wood & wool harlequin rug - the pattern

wood & wool harlequin rug pattern

Since I made my first harlequin RUG, I get lots of questions about the pattern.

My handmade harlequin rug is widely published in some interior magazines, the Bright Bazaar book, Mollie Makes Home and on many blogs.

publication mollie makes home

chambre à couchermarrakech april 2014el limónmollie makes home publication

Pleasantly surprised with the Mollie Makes Home magazine, when I found 'his side of the bed' and 'moi' between the brightly colored moroccan wool on the cover!

A while ago I was invited for 'tea & a chat' with Mollie makes Home. You can read the interview with me from page 100, a surprising question & answer by Caroline Rowland.

In the same issue there's also the photo of our lemon rug in the Inspiration section (page 124). 'And who says a gorgeous rug has to stay on the floor? Be innovative! Be a rule-breaker.'

When I'm back from my Cool Crochet Workshop in Marrakech, there will be a Mollie Makes Home give-away on my blog.

double dahlia

sunday morningsunday morningsunday morningsunday morning

While Lammie was making some bouquets with the flowers she picked from the garden, she found a double dahlia!
She couldn't use this one for a bouquet and gave the pretty flowers to me for my sweetheart. (merci, merci)

I've put it on his side of the bed (for he's a bit ill) in a vintage wine bottle from Spain! So damn pretty...

pippa's room

At Henk's office there is an annual photo competition for the staff.
The five winning photos are printed on canvas and then exhibited in the office building for a year.

One of the winning entries was this picture of the garden flowers we picked for last goodbye to granddad in the summer of 2012.

Henk took the canvas home last week and Pippa wanted it very much in her bedroom.

The flowers look great in the room of our flower girl!
