rotterdam

Katendrecht, Rotterdam - winter city walk on Saturday.

Once Rotterdam's Chinatown, Katendrecht is now home to the hip and happening.
Over the past few years, this district has become one of the liveliest parts of the city without losing its rougher edges.
Cute little eateries, restaurants and bars are around every corner these days. It's a dream destination for foodies.
We had lunch at Posse, a restaurant & shop, where you can find vintage, bicycles and books.

One of the old Fenixloodsen quayside warehouse, now accommodates the Fenix Food Factory. It's an indoor market with fresh foods, where you can shop for authentic and traditional products and nice to wander around on this very cold winter day.

fritillaria

fritillaria

Monday on the 'show off' shelf; the Fritillaria meleagris.

I'm fond of these spring bulbs!
The checkered patterns of the flowers are incredibly sophisticated, one by one small graphic artworks.

The Fritillaria postcard is the work of artist Martin Jarrie.

When in London on Sunday... you obviously have to visit the flower market on Columbia Road.

It's ridiculous crowded, but that didn't stop us.
What an amazing atmosphere on this sunny day. Together with my niece Afra and son Minne we enjoyed the beauty of the street lined with flowers, plants and colorful crowd.

Afra bought some cherry blossom and a miniature palm plant - we are family ;-)

amsterdam-visit habit

amsterdam amsterdam amsterdam amsterdam amsterdam amsterdam amsterdam amsterdam amsterdam amsterdam amsterdam amsterdam

A visit to Amsterdam, mostly includes a bit of vintage treasure hunting at Neef Louis for industrial objects and Van Dijk & Ko for mainly hungarian furniture and wannahaves.
Both warehouses are packed with great stuff.

At Van Dijk & Ko we found a great plant stand, which needs a coat of paint. We wanted to take one of the industrial weighing scales, but don't have space enough on the kitchen counter.

We enjoyed a moment of spring sunshine on the bench at restaurant Waargenoegen, which unfortunately was not o p e n but n o p e.
