@villa_augustus

Welcome to the Instagram account of Villa Augustus in Dordrecht.

I've been working at Villa Augustus since the opening in June 2007 and I've made many, many pictures on my workplace in all those years.

You can find them on my blogposts about Villa Augustus and later on my own @woodwoolstool instamgram account.

I photographed especially during my flower days, but also took photo's of the gardens, the interior, the hotel etcetera, because I really love my place where I work, it's such a special and inspiring place.

Sometimes I thought, hmmm... can I post another #atwork photo on my instagram? (haha)

Some months ago my manager Andrea asked me, if I would be interested to keep up the instagram account for Villa Augustus.

Yes great! Very nice! Awesome!

So since April 6, I am responsible for the official @villa_augustus instagram account, photography and management.

Photography in my workplace with unlimited possibilities to shoot and from now on I can 'legally' post workspace pictures, every day...

It would be nice if you take a look on @villa_augustus and maybe follow the account.
(or come to visit and see how beautiful it is in real life)

a night in the water tank

Last night we stayed in one of the water reservoir rooms of hotel Villa Augustus.
The Dordrecht water tower was the first with a flat-bottomed iron reservoir and is the last one remaining in the Netherlands.

This time we stayed on the fifth floor in a hotelroom on the original flat iron bottom of the reservoir, which is the most authentic part of the water tower, because this is where the water used to be. The bathrooms of the room is one floor below, in what used to be the leak trap for the reservoir, with a view across the vegetable garden.

It's an annual tradition to stay overnight at my workplace, which still feels like a 'mini break', how strange that may seem.

No matter how many times I've been there already, it remains a special place.

24 hours in Rotterdam to celebrate love on our 24th wedding anniversary.

We stayed at CitizenM, in a bright room on the 3rd floor with a magnificant view.
We walked through the center of Rotterdam, had a very late lunch at Wester Paviljoen.
Toasted with mojito's and beers in the lobby of CitizenM.
This morning we started with a cappuccino at Cafe Pol and had breakfast at Memory Lane.

During breakfast we made a very cool plan, how to celebrate our 25th anniversary next year...

PS: thanks everyone for all the sweet wishes on Instragram yesterday.

ses sucreres - la dolça vida

During the last week, I received many emails of interested blog-followers about our hotel...

Ses Sucreres. The small charming hotel is situated in the old neighbourhood of Ferreries, in the centre of the island Menorca.
[Time ago, the two women of the Ses Sucreres, a small local grocery, used to make candies for the Ferreries children...candies for a all generation who remember our house as "Ca Ses Sucreres"...]

We stayed 7 nights in this hotel and we've enjoyed every moment of our stay.

The owners created a personnel hotel, which doesn't feel like a hotel, exactly how we love it!
We felt at home the moment we stepped inside.
Our week on the beautiful island of Menorca has become an unforgettable trip, certainly also because of this Menorcan Sweetness...

room with a view

Last Whitsun weekend we stayed at Villa Augustus. We booked a room in the water tower, on the second floor with a beautiful view. A view on the rivers of Dordrecht, even from your bed you can see the water!
The room is bright, green and so comfortable and charming.

We really enjoyed every single minute of the annual weekend break 'at work'.
