piña colada smoothie

pina colada

Piña colada smoothie. Super easy summer drink.

Ingredients: frozen pineapple chunks and coconut milk.

Mix in a blender until smooth. If you use fresh pineapple instead of frozen, be sure to add some ice to the mixture.

summer food

We made another delicious recipe from the wonderful cookbook THE SOUK by Salma Hage.
Last weekend we chose chicken with green lentils & a taboulé salad and I can assure you it was so tasteful and quite easy to make.

It surely is a bonus when you can eat such a summer meal outside the garden.

Nothing beats having dinner together in the backyard!

borlotti beans

borlotti beansborlotti beans

Yesterday I shelled the beans, so they could soak overnight.
The beans have a wonderful color and pattern, both the shell and the beans.
The 'print' vanishes during cooking, the taste is delicious.
We will make an italian Borlotti bean soup tonight, using Larissa Bertonasco's recipe from the book La Nonna, La Cucina, La Vita.

la cucina

la cucina by wood & wool stool
la cucina, a photo by wood & wool stool on Flickr.
An italian wood & word recipe for the kitchen.
The recipe is for another 'chef' and will leave our kitchen today.
However tonight we will have penne with salsa di pomodoro for dinner I figured.

I have to go shopping for cherry tomatoes and missing ingredients...

My favorite Italian cookbook is La nonna La cucina La vita by Larissa Bertonasco and not only for the good food!
