summer season shoes

summer shoes summer shoes

My favorite summer season shoe collection clockwise:

All Stars - Cacatoes - Betsy Palmer - Replay - Zeket - Voltan - Maypol - Isabel Marant - Raffiacraft by 33 Rue Majorelle - L.K. Bennett.

The Brazilian Cacatoes I've bought in Antwerp some weeks ago and they are my new 'Havaianas'.

In a few weeks we will fly to Sicily and I have to make a choice which ones to bring in my suitcase.

Casual choice has already been made; the All Stars, Cacatoes and Isabel Marant sandals I will certainly bring with me. One pair of dressy heels and ... ?

palmtree having its moment

golden palm tree golden palm tree golden palm tree golden palm tree golden palm tree

Palmtree travel shoebag.

From one of the tryouts of the upcoming cool crochet workshop projects, I've made a matching travel shoe bag for my golden palm tree slingback pumps.
I attached one of the tiny CC palm projects to a linen shoe bag.

Those small bags are ideal for traveling; you can put in your lingerie, shoes, toiletries and loose parts in your suitcase, which makes it easier to pack and organize your travel luggage.

The bag completely fits into my 'golden palm phase'...

stripes, socks & bookcover

stripes & socks the year of the runaways red suitcase - london april 2013

Socks in heels. Stipes on stripes. I like it a lot, those unusual combinations.

The red shoes are already ten years old and I hardly wear them, since the sneakers made their entry in my shoe collection.
Every now and then I bring them out of the shoe rack.

This weekend I started to read The Year of the Runaways.
The English translation of a novel by Sunjeev Sahota.
I received the book from India in the mail last week.
Just a few months ago I got a request from Bhavi Mehta to use my [red suitcase] photo from London for the cover of the book.
She said the picture is just right for the story.
I like those unexpected surprising twists.

all stars

shoe collectiongrey all stars by diederick kraaijeveld grey all stars by converse

My good old Converse sneakers are still one of my favorites.

All stars never get out of fashion.
Although I have to admit I don't wear my All stars that often anymore, eversince I have other sneakers, they feel kind of flat...

collections

My son Minne reads a lot, mainly sports books.
Meanwhile he has quite a collection, that no longer fits on his bookshelf.
So he piled the books by color.
Hey, that looks familiar.

high heel mural by pippa

Pippa pimped/pumped her bedroom with a mural today.
First she outlined the high heel with masking tape, after that with a chalk marker.

iron floor

iron floor by wood & wool stool

Last night we stayed in the water tower.
We booked a room in the former water reservoir.
The typical iron bottom of the water basin is still visible and touchable [watch your toes!]
The hotel room has surprising details, like a staircase to the bathroom on the lower floor.
Bathing in the tub, you can play with your yellow bath duck or looking out across the rivers of Dordrecht [through the charming round window].
We had a delicious dinner, slept wonderfully and enjoyed every minute! And yes, you can have that real 'weekend break feeling' in your domicile.

wood & wool week

wood & wool week by wood & wool stool
wood & wool week, a photo by wood & wool stool on Flickr.

Yesterday we laughed out loud (understatement) at the brilliant performance of Gummbah.
The postcards are very popular.
The crocheted hearts compartment was empty soon.
I have just made some new ♥ postcards to refill.
It's nice to do something new and refresh the collection.
Anyhow the handmade stools remain and seem to be the most popular.
The traditional version is still favorite...

By the way; today, they glued the pebbles in the bathroom (só pretty!)
In a few days it will be ready (I promise to do a photo report) and I can't wait to get a 'foot massage'.

The last few days I have a bad cold and the bathrooms works (dusty) do not contribute to a quick recovery.

adidas energy

adidas by wood & wool stool
adidas, a photo by wood & wool stool on Flickr.

In 2012 I will use my Adidas more frequently for running.

At least once a week, like I always did, but the last months of 2011 have seriously neglected.

Too busy is no excuse, because it gives me lots of energy.

wooden shoes

wooden shoes, originally uploaded by wood & wool stool.

Wooden shoes are known worldwide as typical Dutch.

The 'other' wooden shoes are Swedish Hasbeens.
Proof that clogs are as chic as can be.

Has Been made with love, I can feel it wearing my new 'toffels'

grey all stars

This pair of grey All Stars I've spotted two years ago at the Modefabriek in Amsterdam.

Being highly interested in scrap wood, my attention was immediately drawn to this pair of sneakers. (the same Chucks, although a substantial number of sizes smaller, belong to my shoe collection).

The sneakers are made by artist Diederick Kraaijeveld. He makes sculptures of everyday objects, such as recently canned green pea soup to celebrate the traditional New Year's Dive in style.

Kraaijeveld only uses original colored scrap wood and doesn't use a drop of paint. He likes to create desirable objects of material that others have carelessly thrown away.

You can find a collection of his work on www.oudhout.com.

publication 101 woonideeën magazine

My home and handmade products are featured in the current January 2010 issue of 101 Woonideeën Magazine, a Dutch interior magazine that is really creative and innovative. Thanks to my friend Nina who introduced me as a candidate "binnenkijker".

The photoshoot in September was so much fun and amazing to experience that it's a day's work for a team of four people! The photographer Louis Lemaire (look at 'mensbeeld') and his assistant Mieke Verduijn, stylist Kristel de Jong and Jeske Weel.

The production of the DIY wood & wool baby clothes hangers I did with Jeske. She never touched a crochet needle herself and was the perfect person to produce the mini course for those who want to learn crochet.

I'm very proud that my home is featured in this cool magazine with twelve pages. The very first email about the issue I received last week, was about my boots..., before I even read the issue myself.
