local saturday market

saturday saturday saturday saturday saturday saturday saturday saturday

Saturday morning.

An early visit to the local market for fresh vegetables and flowers.

We chose anemones for the kitchen table.
Ingredients for tonight's tajine; carrots, fennel, sweet colored peppers, potatoes, snow peas, garlic olives, a preserved salted lemon and chicken.
Fresh figs and chocolate for dessert.

Today Dietske, owner of the coolest house in Amsterdam East, will visit us. She is a sweetheart, whom I met in May as a participant of the Green Gardens workshop in Marrakech. We obviously cook a proper moroccan meal for her. Tajine is already simmering on the stove...

Sunday, June 21

We celebrated the longest day with a tiny midsummer dinner party for friends.

We were hoping for a warm summer evening with a dinner in the garden, but it rained most of the day, so we enjoyed the midsummer party in our kitchen.
The chef cooked a great summer meal and we enjoyed the longest day with a lovely bunch of people.

Cheers to summer!

publication [yvestown in de keuken]

publication [yvestown in de keuken][yvestown in de keuken] our 'tajine' chapteryvestown in de keukendaan & yvonne'tante' janneke & willembooklaunch @ sissy boy homeland

What a book! I'm in love...

The pictures, the personal stories and the way it was designed!

Couldn't be better.

I read the book thoroughly for the second time in bed last night and every single story and chapter of the book is so brilliant.

The book has a place of honour on the serving cart (next to the matching green Sissy Boy towel) and the bright ribbon is obviously exactly where our colorful [tajine] chapter in this feel-good-cook-book starts.

Oh man, I'm as proud as a peacock!

a sunny 02 02

sunday lunchrotterdamsunday lunchpumpkin soupdesk#instagram sunday afternoonrotterdam

This sunny Sunday...

I made myself a new pair of fingerless gloves.

We made a super short walk along the river in Rotterdam (because of the cold).

At home we made the pumpkin soup (with yellow and Chioggia beets) turkish bread, yesterday's cold chicken tajine, beetroot-hummus, yogurt with nuts & fresh pineapple!

In the afternoon we visited Ikea (like the rest of the world, so it seemed), more on that later...

We all seem to cherish the long-awaited summer days.
One of the great things about summer is eating together outside.

moroccan dinner at home

This was yesterday just before the guests arrived for a dinner at our home.

For the occasion my sweetheart prepared two tajines and some delicious Moroccan salads for his dear colleagues.

It has been a great evening, we had lots of fun and enjoyed the food.

There was plenty, so tonight we eat what's left.

summer diner in the garden

Last May the two of us celebrated Henk's birthday together in Barcelona and that's why we've planned weeks ago, to have another birthday party at home with friends.

Henk's favorite way to celebrate; in the garden, having dinner together with loved ones at one big table and good summer food and drinks.

This year the long hot summer evenings, were very rare and we've only had a handful of them.

Last night was apparently the most summery evening of the season and we've celebrated it until midnight. (you will have earned it).

Thanks, dear friends for an unforgettable evening!
