weekend in dordrecht

August in Augustus.
The annual weekend break 'at work'.

Sunday afternoon we checked in at the water tower hotel.

We walked to the historical city center to visit the exhibition of Lammie's best pieces at galerie by Branderhorst. A display with house, garden and kitchen stuff, but then extraordinary... A must for those who have the opportunity to visit this 'concept store' in the coming weeks.

We found a cigale wall vase and now have a collection of four.

At night we had dinner in the restaurant at Villa Augustus and after 12 years it's still a treat to spend the night in a room with a view.

Although it may not seem entirely objective, I swear Villa Augustus is the nicest and most delightful hotel in the Netherlands.

candy cane crochet

candy cane crochet urbanjungle crochet candy cane crochet candy cane crochet paul bowles

Candy cane crochet in the backyard.

I'm working on a diagonal stripes variant of the chevron pillow pattern with pastel pink and neon orange yarn from Marrakech.

And with the unexpectedly nice weather, it was great to crochet and read in the garden.

Inspired by the trip to Tanger I am reading Paul Bowles' novel The Sheltering Sky. Bertolucci's movie with Debra Winger and John Malkovich i've seen years ago.

The book is always better... this theory is probably only true if you read the book first.

cheers to the weekend

cheers to the weekend

Friday in the late afternoon.

Back home from work. It was pouring outside.

I had been looking forward to this moment all day: lights on, fresh coffee and continue my crochet project.

Cheers to the weekend!

spring fever in sunny february

spring in february spring in february spring in february

Henk brought me a huge bunch of yellow tulips from the market this morning.

The florist told him the Victorian interpretation of yellow tulips; there’s sunshine in your smile!

I have arranged the tulips in the big yellow mustard tin, which I bought on the berber market near the Atlas Mountains on my latest workshop trip in October.

On this sun-drenched Saturday in February it looks even more like spring.

The appreciation and joy in 'the little things' in life.

Cheers to the weekend!
