The first days of our roadtrip in Portugal we stayed at Companhia das Culturas in the south east of Algarve. About one and a half kilometers from the sea and also near the eastern point of Rio Formosa, which is one of the most beautiful landscapes of the Algarve.
A small hotel, where the food is a very important thing. Especially the breakfasts they serve. They only use good, local products that are in season. A wonderful way to experience a place by 'tasting' it.

Companhia das Culturas is exactly like the charming owner Eglantina said: “Guests can feel a sense of the world passing here, through the historical architecture and the traditional way of living. We are like an anti-resort.”

The colorful houses of Castro Marim.

Who wouldn't like to live in such a charming cottage, pastel painted or with a tiled facade in the most beautiful patterns?

portuguese beach finds

portuguese beach finds

A collection of ropes we found in the last two weeks.

During our first day on the most south-eastern beach of the Algarve, we found lots of small fishing rope pieces.
A day later we went to the Natural Park Ria Formosa (one of the 7 Natural Wonders of Portugal). On the barrier islands, which only can be reached with small boats, once again we found many pieces of rope and orange floating corks.

So we started to collect them on each beach visit during our roadtrip in Portugal.

At home I have washed the ropes in the baththub and here they are drying on the bathroom floor. I will put them in a big glass jar as a beautiful souvenir of our holiday.
