martin jarrie

Martin Jarrie exhibition at VILLA AUGUSTUS.

In the restaurant you can find two works by the French artist Martin Jarrie; [a gardener in his garden] and [a red and white checkered cup]. In the market you can buy postcards and books, illustrated by Jarrie.

Villa Augustus clearly is a fan of the painter & illustrator Jarrie from Paris. This weekend is your last chance to visit the exhibition of his work at Galerie Autumn, the pop-up gallery of Villa Augustus in room 24.

Should you drop by on Saturday, come along to say hello to me in the market.

Oh and make sure to walk around the (vegetable)garden, because it is so beautiful!

A pair of xs stools I recently made for a brother and sister in Paris.

Maman told me, they are very happy with their stools. Ne sont-ils pas mignons?!

around the world

how we live - gypset living

New books on the pouf!
Son Minne and husband Henk visited London for the weekend. They stayed at my niece Afra and had a wonderful time.

They brought home some very inspiring interior books.
Gypset Living by Julia Chaplin and How We live by Marcia Prentice.
Both books are not typical interior design books, they contain creative interiors around the world.
Yesterday I flipped through the pages and got an overdose of inspiration...
Today I'm going to read the books one by one, at ease on the sofa.

Laundry day in Sesimbra. Exactly one month ago during our roadtrip in Portugal.
Sesimbra is not only about cheerful laundry on the washing line, also lots of lovely street art, beautiful tiles and fresh fish.
It's been a month ago and we miss a vida portuguesa.

ropes in a jar

ropes in a jar ropes in a jar ropes in a jar

The colored ropes and floating corks are beachfinds from our roadtrip in Portugal.

What started with some pieces of rope we found on the first day on the beach in Portugal, finally has grown into a collection and meanwhile we cleaned up the beach a bit.
Once home we washed the beachfinds in the bathtub and let them dry.

The collection ended up in a large glass jar and got a nice spot on our attic.

red feather

rotterdam rotterdam

Autumn is my favorite 'fashion' season.
Wearing cardigans, boots and layered clothing.
I love the earthy tones of this season.

Today I found my new boots in Rotterdam.
In the shop I put my old boots in the box, to wear my new pair straightaway...

(had to strike a pose in front of this Marrakech-style wall)

Dear all, have a nice Indian summer weekend!
