book storage

Everywhere in the house there are piles of books and magazines. It seems every month rises a new one somewhere. On one of the many tables, desks, floors, benches, kitchen window sill and now even on chairs.

I'm not a fan of bookcases, except the vertical bookcase Sapiens designed by Bruno Rainaldi, the Letters bookshelf by Pieter de Leeuw or the Selfshelf by Skylla. However they do not offer too much storage space, which is not effective.

I remember a picture of books that were stacked on color on a huge table and it looked great. Maybe I should give it a try.

    HI Ingrid,

    we've just ordered a new bookshelf because books are all over the place here too. I'm planning to put them together by colour as well.
    The bookshelf we've bought has white boxes of different sizes put together, which makes it look more playful. Take a look:

    boeken kasten zijn altijd als het begin van een aventuur.... maar een boek wat zo maar een beetje rondslingerd is ook heel spannend...zomaar eeneens kom je dat dan tegen...comme une recontre

    I have a bookcase, made in a wall I have "empty"...wooden one. Quite simple...but anyway, books still are everywhere

    i love books and bookshelves, well - they're a neccessity. i've also seen books piled up a whole staircase on the steps - works if you have stairs - and probably no children or pets ...

    i find myself using chairs + tables + other spaces for book storage more than by bookcases. so much prettier!

    I agree with you... the books are more alive when they "walk" everywhere in the house, more than if they stay closed in a bookcase ! And I love this beautiful picture :)
