this morning I've been running
with many layers of clothing,
woolen hat & gloves
and yet I still was cold
once home
I 'curl' myself into the sheepskin
and I'm surrounded with woolen blankets
I want spring!

round & round & round & square
'Work' to be done.
After a long period of mainly 'wood work' (trees and signs and more trees in Januari, even after x-mas) I'm so happy now a wool-going period has begun. I'm working on a stool cover that goes round & round & round & square.
Happy friday!

coloured vases
Today I visited museum Boijmans van Beuningen in Rotterdam to see the Misfit exhibition of Hella Jongerius.
In 2005 Hella designed Jonsberg vase in four variants. The vase is held in a large number of musuem collections and it is also held in numerous private collections! I mean, who doesn't have one? (Yes, me. The white one is always sold out at any Ikea I visit.)
It was Hella's challenge of how to preserve traces of the craft process within a mass-produced product.
Meanwhile she designed in 2009 three wall-hangings; Pelle (hare), Mikkel (fox) and Gullspira (deer) for Ikea.
You should really visit the exhibition.
Jansen (not rich, but taste) tips;
- free admission on Wednesday
- have lunch in the restaurant with nice view

grey all stars
This pair of grey All Stars I've spotted two years ago at the Modefabriek in Amsterdam.
Being highly interested in scrap wood, my attention was immediately drawn to this pair of sneakers. (the same Chucks, although a substantial number of sizes smaller, belong to my shoe collection).
The sneakers are made by artist Diederick Kraaijeveld. He makes sculptures of everyday objects, such as recently canned green pea soup to celebrate the traditional New Year's Dive in style.
Kraaijeveld only uses original colored scrap wood and doesn't use a drop of paint. He likes to create desirable objects of material that others have carelessly thrown away.
You can find a collection of his work on www.oudhout.com.

grace of a teapot
A toast to the grace of the pot,
ready at all time
To give up its emptiness
for the tea.
-The Minister of Leaves-
The teapot is designed exclusively for Villa Augustus employees by Dorine de Vos and is by far the nicest Christmas gift I ever received.
