Rotterdam - 31st of July
The Nederlands Fotomuseum, the national museum of photography in the Netherlands, has re-stored the colour work of photographer Ed van der Elsken from destruction. This summer, the museum celebrates with Lust for Life: the first retrospective of his colour work. With his colour photography, Ed pays tribute to human-kind and life around universal themes such as love, life and death.

tropical summer days
Tropical days.
The beach is the best place to 'survive' a tropical day.
In the shade of the parasol, with a nice breeze and a dip in the sea from time to time.
The Dutch North Sea coast is incredibly beautiful and the beaches are wide.
(and I'd love a (vintage) surfboard, somewhere in or around the house)

candy cane crochet cushion
Candy cane crochet cushion.
I've been working on a diagonal stripes variant of the chevron pillow pattern with pastel pink, neon pink and neon orange yarn from Marrakech.
I started the candy cane project in June and because of a crochet-free holiday and busy weeks afterwards, it has taken more than a month to finish it, but it is ready now.
The bright colors and stripes make it a summer cushion!

for loïs
Loïs. Born on the 6th of July.
Sweet and beautiful baby girl of my friend Marieke.
Today we visited Loïs for the first time. She is so cute!
I know for sure that Lois will grow up with the love for gardens and flowers, because my friend Marieke shares my passion for flowers, plants and gardening. So I bought the smallest straw hat for her future little helper in the garden and embroidered her name on it.
... and needless to say I made a baby waistcoat*.
(You can download the baby waistcoat pattern in my Etsy shop)

vintage brandy bottle
New guy in da house.
A matador. Well, a glass matador.
A vintage (1950s) Brandy Bottle from Lammie Saturday Shop in Dordrecht.
Henk spotted the matador, when he went to Lammie last Saturday, while I was at work. It was a brandy bottle from Lammie's private collection, but she decided to sell this guy in the shop.
Now in our living room with a dried allium, instead of brandy inside. Cheers to the weekend anyway!

sardinia - san teodoro
Roadtrip Sardinia - 4 days in San Teodoro
Tortoli - San Teodoro
Making trips with the Fiat 500 is great in Sardinia. The island is surprisingly large, we initially 'misjudged' that. Sardinia is slightly larger than half of the Netherlands.
Via Gennargentu National Park, we did the mountain stage (Giro 2017) on the SS125 with hundreds of curves, horses on the road and amazing views.
After a long spectacular ride, we arrived at our last hotel on the outskirts of San Teodoro.
Tutto Mare.
We spent the last days of our vacation mainly on the beach and in the sea. In the morning coffee in a village. In the afternoons we visited the most beautiful bays with clear blue water; La Cinta, l'Isuledda, Capo Coda Cavallo, Cada Brandinchi. And every evening the delight of Sardinian cuisine. We ate out of the sea every night.
We savoured the sweet Sardinian life. La dolce vita! Grazie for all the great moments during these sixteen days...
