karpathos - menetes & finiki
Karpathos - 14th of September
A daytrip to Menetes and Finiki.
Menetes is an amiable, colorful, picturesque village, built amphitheatrically on the slopes of a hill.
After a strol trough the steep narrow alleys, we had a drink at Taverna Manolis. A little later we walked further and were spontaneously invited for a cup of Greek coffee by Kostas, a resident of Menetes. What a kind-natured man! while the coffee was simmering in his small and cosy kitchen, he proudly showed us his house. Moreover he treated us to a touching violin concert. Really too sweet, pure hospitality. Kostas made our day!
In the afternoon we drove along the west coast towards Finiki and had delicious lunch at Mama Cuisine in the quiet and small bay of Finiki. And after lunch we spend a few hours under the parasol on the sandy beach.
At the end of this glorious day we drove back to our villa, made dinner and dined outside under the starry sky. In this quiet place it gets truly dark in and you can easily see countless stars. Magical!
