alles komt goed

Henk accidentally sat on his glasses recently, so we went to buy a new one at Ace & Tate in Rotterdam today.

While we waited for the glasses to be ready, we had a coffee to go at Nine Bar and made a city walk.

sunglasses archive

With the purchase of two new sunglasses this season, my 'mini sunglasses suitcase' was completely packed and they didn't fit in anymore.

A vintage rotatable spectacle rack would be a good solution for the expanding collection, so I went looking for it, yet without result.

Then suddenly I realized that we still have a vintage postcard rack in the attic, I found 3 of them in a bulky waste container years ago.

The frames fit exactly into the 'landscape postcard' side of the rack. I love these creative solutions, re-using what you already have.

13 sunglasses, it may seem like a lot, however collected over the years. A new one every year, sometimes two ;-) and prescription sunglasses have been added.

Summer ain't over yet!

approaching spring

Happy Monday, friends!

How was your weekend?

On Friday we went to Rotterdam and started with coffee at By Jarmusch, the newest 'breakfast' spot in town.
We took a seat at the counter, where coffee is always brewed fresh and poured at your table by a waitress, dressed in an old style dinner lady uniform.
We already had breakfast at home, but if breakfast is your most important meal of the day, you can have it exactly the way you want it overthere.

Next we went to Ace & Tate to adjust my new frame, because the nose bridge of my new sunglasses was annoyingly uncomfortable. It was a piece of cake for the optician to adjust the shape and now it fits perfectly.

I am ready for sunshine and Marrakech-proof! (only 4 weeks to go...) Soon I'll be standing beside real palm trees again instead of street art palm trees.

I love this time of year, because everything comes alive and you know that within some weeks it's spring again!
Sure, the winter months were cold but now we’ve turned the corner into spring and the days are longer, warmer and brighter.

Have a great week!

no frame no fame

Tonight we went to Rotterdam to pick up our new (sun)glasses at Ace & Tate.
I like the dark green frame of my sunglasses and what about the name; Ivy Cactus?! (and Henk's glasses too, but wasn't allowed to take his picture).
It was a wonderful summer evening and we had an Italian dinner at Mangiare on the terrace.
Good start of the weekend.

Wishing you all a great time for the coming days :-)
