deep-pile ginkgo carpet

ginkgo carpet

It's that time of year again.

After a few weeks of golden glow from the ginkgo tree in the frontyard and a stunning kitchen window view, almost all ginkgo leaves have fallen.

So we drink our daily coffee in the front yard on a deep-pile yellow carpet.
And we will leave the leaves for a little while, simply because it's so beautiful.

November joy of nature.

first snow of the season

first snow of the season first snow of the season first snow of the season first snow of the season first snow of the season first snow of the season first snow of the season first snow of the season first snow of the season first snow of the season

First snow of the winter season and first snow since two years.

We made a tour through the white Villa Augustus garden. It's only for one day, so we went outside to enjoy the rare snow moment of 2021.

ginkgo love

ginkgo loveginkgo love ginkgo love ginkgo love ginkgo love

This time of year the ginkgo tree is at its most beautiful!

Every year in november I'm stunned by the beauty and the golden glow and brightness.

I enjoy the ginkgo leaves carpet in the frontyard each time when I look outside through the kitchen window.

We planted the ginkgo tree in our frontyard when we moved in 15 years ago.

The Ginkgo Biloba or Japanese walnut tree is my favorite tree. In Japan they honor the tree as a god; it symbolizes hope, love, magic, timelessness and longevity and is nicknamed temple tree.

Even on a rainy Monday the frontyard looks wonderful. The beech hedge turns brown and the hellebore is ready to flower again. Change of seasons remains spectacular!

get up and go

get up and go

Spring has sprung! Yippee!

The change of season, also means change of wardrobe.
At the moment I've started unpacking my spring-summer collection from the attic, for the upcoming trip to Marrakech.
No doubt I will bring my kaftans in my suitcase to Marrakech. Some cardigans and sweaters, in case it cools down a bit in the evenings.

What to wear in the in-between-season?
Will it be cold, warm or somewhere in-between?
For heaven's sake, what do you wear when transitioning from season to season?
Right now, it can be a really confusing time to get dressed in the morning.
This week, I started wearing a woolen beanie on my way to work on my bike in the morning. Somewhere around lunchtime you can easily sit outside in the sun, wearing a cardigan.

My advice and solution; layer up with pops of color, to keep your in-between outfit bright.

I have found this nice snug sweater, not too thick and more comfortable than a woolen sweater.
Love the fresh and unusual color combination (exactly as the beanie) and that 'get up and go' attitude!
... and the palm by all means fits completely in my 'palm tree period'.
