On Saturday morning we had a date with our milanese friend, the charming and generous Chiara.

We booked this Milano trip last year to visit the OATW concert in Milan at the beginning of May.
The concert was postponed to November so we decided to rebook our trip around Henk's birthday.
Which was also a very good and appropriate occasion, for we met Chiara in 2019 in Tanger, Morocco and spend a special roadtrip together to Tétouan and Chaouen on Henk's birthday.

Last week we went to Triennale di Milano, a design and art museum in the Parco Sempione in Milan.

Chiara picked us up at our hotel and she was as surprised as we were when she saw the backyard of our hotel!
We had coffee in Wagner and walked to the museum. Chiara offered to drive us to Malpenza airport, so we had a lot of extra time to spend together and a lovely lunch in Caffe In Giardino, the museum garden.

What a wonderful way to end our stay in Milan. We were so surprised by the relaxed vibe in the city. And what will always remind me of Milan from now on is the jasmine fragrance, which was all over the place. When we got home we bought a jasmine plant for our garden right away!

Milano - friday 27th of May - 26110 steps

Starting the day with an italian breakfast in the hotel garden, è la dolce vita!

For today we have mapped out 2 walking routes again.

Metro to Sant'Ambrogio and the first coffee stop at Pasticceria Cucchi.

We had a lunch at La Prosciutteria Milano Navigli at the Canal Naviglio Grande. Salumi e formaggi. The portion for two served on a large wooden cutting board turned out to be enough for a whole family!

After a walk along the canal, on both sides, we visited Tenoha, a cool and colorful japanese concept store.

For more inspiration and an aperitivo to Base, which means a new beginning, a perfect name for this center for culture & creativity. Base is located in an old factory and has an international vibe.

On the Via Savona I came across my WOODWOOLSTOOLS at boutique Memèm! Ten years ago I received an order from the owner for her new shop and the stools are still in the shop, where they have been used as a display for shoes and accessories for all those years. It was so nice to meet Emanuela in person and to see my stools again haha...

To celebrate the reunion we had a gelato across the street at Avgvsto!

At the end of the day we walked back to our hotel and after walking for 3 days we notice that the pace slows down a bit. Time to recover on sun loungers in the hotel garden and a bath before dinner at Pizzaria Charlot in Wagner.

Milano - thursday 26th of May and Henk's birthday - 27478 steps

Breakfast in the gigantic woodsy hotel garden. When you start the day here, you really have no idea that you are in the city, it's so green and quiet.

Henk wanted coffee & cake at Bar Luce on his birthday, so we went to Fondazione Prada and started with a little celebration in the bar, designed by the American film director Wes Anderson in 2015. Bar Luce recreates the atmosphere of a typical Milanese cafè, however you imagine yourself back in time. The range of colors, the formica furniture, the seats, the floor, and the wood wall panels are reminiscent of Italian popular culture and aesthetics from the 1950s and 1960s.

We had a delicious lunch on the cosy terrace at vegan restaurant la Schiscetteria.

I imagined a lot of it beforehand, but the two famous green residential towers were even more impressive in real life, Bosco Verticale surrounded by a field of poppies and hollyhocks was awesome.

We continued our walk to the Brera district, which is one of the most atmospheric districts of Milan, originally an artists' district. Today we did no less than 3 routes from the Time to Momo book!

Dinner at Ristorante Da Gaspare in the super green and lively district of Wagner. We agreed that italian food really tastes so much better in Italy.

Walking back to the hotel late at night when it's still 27 degrees. Is it summer yet?
