Rotterdam - 15th of October

Museum day with Liam.

Off to the Museumpark in Rotterdam for a day full of fun, art & adventures with Liam.

We visited Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen and the Natural History Museum.

In the Depot building Liam stepped across the glass mosaic floor in amazement and saw as many as a hundred opa's in Yayoi Kusama's Infinity Mirror Room.

And the view over Rotterdam from the roof garden was impressive. Moreover, with a toddler you also see things from a different perspective yourself.

An autumn walk through the Museumpark on to the Natural History museum. Liam was very curious and looked at the collections with attention and admiration. A thousand questions, as befits an almost 3-year-old. And he found it curious that all animals were dead, however it was interesting to see everything up close.

After all these impressions some time to climb and play in the garden and thereafter had lunch at Bazar, where Minne also joined us. Liam was surprised, his uncle and he are best friends!

Minne treated Liam to a gift for his upcoming birthday in the toy store. Liam's choice without a doubt: the big box of LEGO classic creative vehicles!

Beautiful day 🍀

Wednesday 24th of November - Depot Boijmans van Beuningen Rotterdam

Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen is the world’s first publicly accessible art storage facility. The depot is located next to Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Museumpark in Rotterdam. Visitors can see the result of 172 years of collecting. More than 151,000 objects housed together, arranged in fourteen storage compartments with five different climates. Next to the objects, all the activities that go into preserving and managing a collection are on open view in the building.

We were already huge fans of the outside of the Depot building in the museum park. Now that we have visited the inside as well and experienced the magnificent panoramic view of the city from the roofgarden, it's definitely my favorite building in Rotterdam.

And as icing on the cake, we were served by my dear former colleague Frankie during lunch in museum restaurant Renilde on the roof of Depot. Great afternoon!
