Wednesday 24th of November - Depot Boijmans van Beuningen Rotterdam

Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen is the world’s first publicly accessible art storage facility. The depot is located next to Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Museumpark in Rotterdam. Visitors can see the result of 172 years of collecting. More than 151,000 objects housed together, arranged in fourteen storage compartments with five different climates. Next to the objects, all the activities that go into preserving and managing a collection are on open view in the building.

We were already huge fans of the outside of the Depot building in the museum park. Now that we have visited the inside as well and experienced the magnificent panoramic view of the city from the roofgarden, it's definitely my favorite building in Rotterdam.

And as icing on the cake, we were served by my dear former colleague Frankie during lunch in museum restaurant Renilde on the roof of Depot. Great afternoon!

Friday - 11th of June - Rotterdam

Finally we can go to the museum again, after months of lockdown.

We missed it.

A few weeks ago we booked our first 2021 museum visit, we start at the Kunsthal, where we went for the last time in November.

We were treated to some nice exhibitions in the Kunsthal. Erik Matthijsen's exhibition is by far my favorite, i love his style, colors and objects.
I discoverd his work for the first time at the Stedelijk Museum Schiedam in August 2019. Piece by piece colorful and inspiring paintings of everyday objects.

We celebrated the first museum visit in 2021 with a 'delizioso' italian lunch at Osteria Vicini.

So happy with these 'returned joys of life'. It feels so good to be able to do the things that used to be so normal...

back on the terrace in rotterdam

Rotterdam - 28th of April - 10893 steps

The terraces in the Netherlands reopened, since October 2020.

So after months of coffee-to-go, we booked two outdoor cafes yesterday.

Around noon, we started in the Park at Parqiet with 'coffee to stay' and a lunchdate.

At the end of the afternoon, we booked a table at Raïnaraï and had an delicious early Algerian dinner, because the terraces have to close already at 6 pm.

In between we walked through the city center and just before we went back to the parking at the Museumpark, we bought a houseplant at STEK Stadstuinwinkel, a Papyrus!
