Tuesday 19th of May - Dordrecht

Morning walk in our hometown Dordrecht. Nothing special but still nice. Our daily 'quarantined' routine but we make the best of it.

We paid a short visit to both our children who live close together in the old city center.

Fortunately we are able to see each other every week and I am very glad they live nearby in these bizarre times.

Restaurants, terraces and museums will open again in the Netherlands next week, so we can expand our freedoms and trips a bit. Can't wait.

We spotted a cool beige vintage Opel Rekord around the corner at Pippa. I remembered my grandfather used to have the same when I was just a little girl.

5th of May 2020

A day to celebrate freedom.

Liberation Day is celebrated every year on the 5th of May. It’s a day to realize how lucky we are to live in a country where people live in freedom.

Today 75 years ago our country was liberated and we have lived in freedom ever since.

More than ever, we appreciate the freedom we are used to.

No festivals and no parties this year, we made a bike ride through our city and had a lovely picnic at the riverside. We enjoyed a sunny afternoon in the garden and had dinner at Pippa's who cooked a delicious meal for us tonight.

Dordrecht, Sunday 10th of November.

A sunny Sunday afternoon walk through the beautiful old town of Dordrecht. For the second time this week we are lucky to enjoy the sun on the terrace!

Autumn is my preferred season when it comes to clothing. Bring on that winter wardrobe anew. Cardigans, coats, sweaters and I borrowed a beanie from my Etsy shop.

winter delight

The garden of Villa Augustus this afternoon.

Nothing so soothing and peaceful, like the hush of fresh fallen snow.

In the Netherlands days with snow are quite rare nowadays and therefore we must enjoy it when it's there.

The layer of powder on the Italian garden, is making the shapes of the garden even more beautiful.

Back home in Dordrecht after 18 amazing days in Marrakech.

I will soon report on the two workshops and the wonderful time we've had in and around Marrakech and took lots of pictures that I want to share with you.

Because of the indian summer overhere, it's easy to get acclimated in the 'medina of Dordrecht'.

‘De Holland’ building in my hometown Dordrecht was designed by the quirky architect Sybold van Ravesteyn in 1939.

Nowadays the National Museum of Education is located in the restored building.
Although we pass the building almost weekly, we never had a look inside.
Well it often occurs, you don't visit the 'tourist attractions' in your hometown, like you would in other cities, right?

So we went inside the museum last weekend and were impressed by the interior, light and collection. We had lunch in the 'managers office' of the former insurance company De Holland. The cutlery cases in the restaurant are handmade from old maps. Guess what country was on the map I got?
