Review 2020

January - overnight stay in Antwerp to celebrate our 28th wedding anniversary

February - two days in Paris to celebrate our 'romance' since the 15th of February 1986

March - while we’re quarantined, we started a creative #stayhome challenge and moved from our cozy attic bedroom to Minne's old bedroom

April - blessed with a garden and being able to go outside for the weather has been amazing for weeks. Nature helps us through this uncertain time

May - midweek city break in Hamburg to celebrate Henk's anniversary

June - daily breakfasts, lunches and dinners in the backyard, we cooked a lot and tried to make a festivity of every meal

July - roadtrip Portugal - when we booked our summer holiday in 2019, we didn't have a clue, Portugal would be the only safe destination in Europe by then

August - one of the longest heatwaves ever, we often went to the beach very early, to avoid the crowds

September - we rebooked our flight tickets to New York and enjoyed a quiet week in Faro to the fullest. We took a boat to another deserted beach in Ria Formosa every day

October - two days in Maastricht, Paris of The Netherlands

November - dinners with friends and family at our kitchen table

December - lots of cocooning, crocheting, creativity and christmas with the family

2020 was the most bizarre year we've ever had, without a doubt!
Even though it was a year with the handbrake on, we tried to get the best out of it in a safe way.
Both our children got the keys to their first homes in March. We are happy they are living in Dordrecht and we can visit eachother easily.
I eagerly look forward to a new year, with good hope for better times. A 'happy new year' is not even necessary, a normal new year would be fine!

Thank you dear followers, lots of love and just hold on, everything will be okay one day...

easy like sunday morning

easy like sunday morning

Waking up at nine and getting out of bed at twelve.

Last night we traditionally celebrated a typical Dutch 'pakjesavond' with our family at Pippa's. We had such a lovely and cozy evening together. 'Sinterklaas' gifts under the Christmas tree, for this year it is Pippa's first Christmas tree in her own home. Joky and touching Sinterklaas poems, music and lots of fun memories of pakjesavond when the children were younger.

Perfect weekend sofar.

5th of May 2020

A day to celebrate freedom.

Liberation Day is celebrated every year on the 5th of May. It’s a day to realize how lucky we are to live in a country where people live in freedom.

Today 75 years ago our country was liberated and we have lived in freedom ever since.

More than ever, we appreciate the freedom we are used to.

No festivals and no parties this year, we made a bike ride through our city and had a lovely picnic at the riverside. We enjoyed a sunny afternoon in the garden and had dinner at Pippa's who cooked a delicious meal for us tonight.

xs woodwoolstool 2020

xs woodwoolstool 2020 xs woodwoolstool 2020

A new xs woodwoolstool design.

I made a brandnew cover, for the handmade moroccan mini-stool.

The xs stools are perfect for toddlers, the nursery, as a footstool and you can even use it as a small (bedside) table.

Toddlers love it! They can drag this size-cute stool anywhere themselves. I'm sure this 'toy' will be their favorite piece of furniture.

Have a look at the size-cute collection in my ETSY SHOP.

2020 calendar

2020 art calendar

Happy New Year and cheers to new beginnings!

We all need a fresh start every year, right?
New goals, new dreams, new intentions, new plans and a new calendar.

This jumbo calendar we bought last week in the Van Abbe Museum in Eindhoven; The Big Dutch Art Calendar 2020

Three kilos of home-grown art. Too heavy to hang, so we decided to leave it on the desk.

This Big Dutch Art Calendar shows a different work every day on a large format, from both renowned artists and up-and-coming talent. This tear-off calendar is packed with visual art, photography, fashion, illustrations, architecture and design.

oliebollen in da house

oliebollen oliebollen oliebollen

Oliebollen in da house.

It is a custom for Dutch people to have oliebollen & appelflappen on New Year’s eve, which explains the extra long queues at most of the oliebollen mobile stalls setup on various spots around the city.

Have a wonderful New Year's Eve!
A brandnew year and decade ahead of us, to start all over again and make new plans!

Let's make Twenty Twenty top notch and try to get everything out of it!

Thanks for another year of following my blog.

lots of love, Ingrid x

classic blue - pantone color of the year 2020

classic blue classic blue classic blue classic blue classic blue classic blue classic blue classic blue classic blue classic blue classic blue classic blue classic blueclassic blue classic blue classic blue classic blue classic blue

Haha, so I was com-ple-te-ly wrong about the color. My divination of a golden yellow hue didn't come true.

Pantone Color of the Year 2020 is Classic Blue, PANTONE 19-4052, to be more precisely.

Pantone introduced the new color yesterday as a timeless and enduring blue hue elegant in its simplicity. Suggestive of the sky at dusk, the reassuring qualities of Classic Blue offer the promise of protection; highlighting our desire for a dependable and stable foundation from which to build. As we cross the threshold into a new era, Pantone has translated the hue into a multi-sensory experience to reach a greater diversity of people and provide an opportunity for everyone to engage with the color.

I had to laugh about some of the comments after the reveal. Someone said; very disappointing, looks like Facebook... But most of the comments on the new color of the year are positive.

Although it's not my favorite blue, it is a classic, relaxing and timeless color. Something like Levis 501, comfy and never goes out of style.
