in bloom

Magnolia in bloom!

The massive magnolia branch, my friend Rosa brought from the market last week, was big and beautiful! and top-heavy...
Even the largest jug in the house, couldn't handle the weight. So I decided to cut off the side branches and make a magnolia bouquet.

The flower-buds opened up one by one in the past days. Today the magnolia is in full bloom and is shining on my home-made plant stand.

poppy anemones

poppy anemones

Poppy Anemones are my favorite 'winter flowers' and preferably this pinkish-rose color called Sylphide.

To enjoy anemones a little longer, you need to put them in a small amount of water, because otherwise the flower stems might rot. Make sure you check the vase daily, because they take up large amounts of water. A transparent vase is therefore the best choice for the poppy anemones.

Took this 'I feel like spring' picture with my iPhone this morning, while I was working at the kitchen table. I posted it on Instagram and wanted to share it overhere anyway.

a bunch of flowers, like in a child's drawing...

painted pink

The kitchen walls are painted pink.

Not just pastel pink. No, it's a kind of 'moroccan pink'. An earthy color you can find in the medina.

Our kitchenwalls were covered with scrapwood for more than 10 years. We loved it, the kitchen had this natural basic look. Everything looked nice on the wooden surface.
We already had a wall make over in mind for some time, we did not know whether we wanted tiles or something something completely different.
Besides we were a bit worried it might affect the nice no-nonsense atmosphere in the kitchen.

Two weeks ago, during breakfast we spontaneously decided that it was the perfect rainy day to knock off the scrap wood.
Always exciting... well the beginning was quite scary, but after one wall we liked it. The planks we threw out the kitchen window and in less than an hour the walls were completely gutted.

The pretty pink paint was already in house! We decided to paint across the battered plaster for a rough look.
The kitchen looks completely different, with the same utensils.

We are delighted with our 'moroccan pink' kitchen. The color is even better in real and it changes with the light. Superb!

lemon

lemonslemon from arleslemon from arleslemonaoût lemon

This lemon is created by poster artist Michel Bouvet for the 35th edition of the Rencontres d'Arles, one of the largest photography festivals in the world.

Michel Bouvet creates the posters for the festival since 2002. It's a colorful series of fruits, vegetables and animals. The posters contribute to the unique visual communication of the festival.

We picked the lemon from 2004 to take home as a souvenir of the stunning photography festival we visited during our road trip.

The similarity with our lemon rug is awesome!

The waving checkered little curtain and the pink brush are from Lammie's kitchen.
The other pictures are taken in our kitchen, just simple everyday things that I love.

el limón

lemon

Bobo Choses is a super cool brand from sunny Spain and I’m a huge fan. I’ve discovered their home collection a while ago in Paris and I’m especially loving the fruit rugs. The rugs are handmade and look cool not just as rugs but also as wall hangings.

Each collection is linked to a story or fairy tale. The current collection is based on the story about the neighborhood supermarket of Jean Gustav, where he sells the most delicious tomatoes, yellowest lemons and tastiest smelling freshly baked bread. So we decided to have the lemon rug for our home, it refreshes our living and perfectly disguises all tiny holes of the previous alphabet wall.
