fishbone ><((('> cactus

Fishbone cactus boasts many colorful names. Ric Rac, Zigzag and Fishbone orchid cactus a few variations on the name of this graceful plant. I just love the shape of the leaves.

I saw the plant for the first time, years ago in London.

The entire windows at the back of the Terence Conran shop were full of these graphically shaped plants.

It was before I was a plant enthusiast and I did not know the name of the plant and called Matisse plant.

Nowadays we have two mature Matisse plants and many baby plants.

Another cool thing about the fishbone cactus is that you can easily replant its cuttings!

in bloom

in bloom

Magnolia in bloom!

The massive magnolia branch, my friend Rosa brought from the market last week, was big and beautiful! and top-heavy...
Even the largest jug in the house, couldn't handle the weight. So I decided to cut off the side branches and make a magnolia bouquet.

The flower-buds opened up one by one in the past days. Today the magnolia is in full bloom and is shining on my home-made plant stand.

urban jungle donkey basket

urban jungle donkey basket banana plant urban jungle donkey basket

The green donkey basket I found at the local weekly Ourika river market last week.
Actually I bought it for my bike, but soon realized that I do not have a luggage carrier on my bike, haha...
I would definitely find another application, so I decided to buy the basket anyway...
Perhaps as planter in the garden? or wool baskets?
You can not possibly find an even more impractical souvenir to take in your suitcase, but I was facing the challenge and managed to bring it home.

Once at home I knew it right away, it's a plant box! The urban jungle donkey basket.

lemon

lemonslemon from arleslemon from arleslemonaoût lemon

This lemon is created by poster artist Michel Bouvet for the 35th edition of the Rencontres d'Arles, one of the largest photography festivals in the world.

Michel Bouvet creates the posters for the festival since 2002. It's a colorful series of fruits, vegetables and animals. The posters contribute to the unique visual communication of the festival.

We picked the lemon from 2004 to take home as a souvenir of the stunning photography festival we visited during our road trip.

The similarity with our lemon rug is awesome!

just a yellow lemon tree

sitting by the lemon treelemon ruglemonslemon treelemon treelemon rug

We have a houseplant!

There are always flowers in the house, but never plants.
This small lemon tree is the first!
I'd love to have a huge lemon tree once, but I'm afraid it will not survive, so it's a start.

The lemon tree is on my desk and this song is in my head; And all that I can see is just another lemon tree...
Also on the desk; the matching pages of week 6 in the Villa Augustus agenda.
The lemon rug we bought last year at Bobo Choses and it's hanging on the wall in the livingroom.
