It's always a challenge to avoid the touristic places in Amsterdam.
This time we discovered some cool places in Amsterdam East.

We visited a friend who just moved in to her new house. What an amazing place.
The funny thing is I took a photo of her house the day before (I loved it so much and said I could live there!), without knowing it's her house.
Together we had coffee & cake at All The Luck In The World, owned by another friend of mine, Jane.

In the afternoon we went to De Hallen and had lunch at the Kanarie Club.
And at the end of the day we had a rest on the roof terrace of ZOKU for a drink with a view.

After walking 'the half marathon of Amsterdam', we went back to our divine attic room in the Lloyd Hotel to rest for a while and we decided not to walk anymore and had diner on the sunny terrace, located on the south side of the Lloyd building.

Three days in Amsterdam.

The beautiful hotel room with a swing (and bath) in the middle of the high attic room, was the biggest birthday surprise I could wish for...

We stayed for the 4th time at the Lloyd Hotel, but this definitely was the nicest room ever!
Great historical building and perfect location in East to avoid the busy tourist parts of Amsterdam.

We had lunch at Bar Botanique and walked around the neighborhood, visited my friend Jane in her shop All The Luck In The World, climbed to the roof of the Nemo building and discovered many new special places in the always surprising capital.

hotel label collection

hotel label collection

I love hotels that have something unique.
I'm not talking about stars.
Entering the room and feeling at home.
I don't mind to pay a little more to stay in a good mood room.
A cool hotel room is worth a lot to me.
I think a neat hotel makes your city trip complete.
Not only abroad but also as a 'break' in the Netherlands.
Stay overnight for just one night with good food and breakfast for me is like a mini-vacation.

Here are some of the favorite places I've stayed!
(in random order)

1. Michelberger - Berlin www.michelbergerhotel.com/
2. Lloyd hotel - Amsterdam www.lloydhotel.com/
3. Villa Augustus - Dordrecht www.villa-augustus.nl/new/index-flash.html
4. Mama Shelter - Paris www.mamashelter.com/
5. The Praktik - Barcelona www.praktikhotels.com/
6. Story Hotel - Stockholm www.storyhotels.com/
7. Hotel New York - Rotterdam www.hotelnewyork.nl/index.php/nl/home
8. Boulevard Leopold - Antwerp www.boulevard-leopold.be/
9. Tentenhotel Les Ormes - Villeréal campinglesormes.com/
10. Hotel Bazar - Rotterdam www.hotelbazar.nl/

It may be obvious, such lovely hotels happen to have funny 'do not disturb labels'. Here's my hotel label collection.

lloyd hotel

lloyd hotel, originally uploaded by wood & wool stool.

wood & wool stool @ woonbeurs were two fantastic days!

It was very inspiring and fun to do some 'wood & wool stooling' in the 101 woonideeën house. Tuesday I spend with Thalé (Pippa D) and Wednesday with Jane (ATLITW) and I enjoyed their company.

Fun and surprising @ the Woonbeurs are; 101 woonideeën house, Sjakies, Neef Louis, Spectrum with Dutch masterpiece 'girl with the pearl earring' by IXXI and the VT Wonen house. The wool unit in front of the checkered 'villa augustus' hallway wall is awesome and was one of my favorite items.

Tuesday night we had dinner at Fifteen and stayed at the Lloyd hotel.
It was great fun and I was pretty exhausted after two days. Thanks everyone for visiting!
