Cluttercore. A colourful collection of memories, colours, patterns and designs, that together form a personal style.

Our interior isn't about what's trendy or good taste, but solely what we think is worth displaying and about personal items that we've have collected over the years.

souvenirs de paris

Souvenirs de Paris.

French plates by Paola Navone and vintage cutlery by Sabre.

After Paris in August for a couple of days, we had bruch today with our new plates and cutlery from Merci.

Both not dishwasher proof, so I did the dishes myself, with pleasure!

In the next days I will come back with some Paris posts. We had an amazing time, I think it was our best stay in Paris ever.

eclectic style

eclectic style eclectic style eclectic style eclectic style

Well, to cut a vintage moroccan handwoven blanket into pieces was the most scary part of my newest project...

A beautiful unique piece! I bought the blanket in Marrakech some years ago.

I'm gonna make some sturdy pillows for our bamboo daybed, so we can also use it as a sofa. And not just to hang on or take a nap on it.

The plan was to make all three covers today. It already took me forever to make the first cut. After a few hours, a couple of broken needles, I finally succeeded to finish only one pillow cover with a zipper at the bottom. The woven fabric is quite a challenge to sew!

Pillow one is done! I am more than satisfied with the result, especially with my average sewing skills it was a tricky project.

Monday I will continue with the two remaining covers. First purchase a few spare needles, before I can continue. At least now I know how to do it and the other two pillows will be 'a piece of cake'.

The advantage of my studio is that I can close the door and leave everything on the floor and don't have to tidy up the mess.

Have a nice and relaxing weekend everyone! ... and some of you may enjoy an extra hour of sleep tonight.

PS: In the next post I will take you back to Essaouira again.

bright light

After weeks and weeks of long 'backyard' summer evenings, we moved to the living room because of the summer storm yesterday. For the first time since a long time, we spent the evening indoors. Cooler days ahead of us...

The August days are slowly getting shorter, so we also need to turn on the lights. Well that has its charm too.

The 1980s toucan desk lamp designed by H.T. Huang, our vintage find from Palermo, ushered in the first indoor-evening. Bright, cheerful and funny light.

Palermo, 19th of June 2018 - our toucan in the vintage shop, a practical souvenir because of the folding beak.

Have a cool weekend you all, wherever you are!

summer finds

living living living

Summer finds.

Some new items in da house. Souvenirs for our 'casa'.

On the wall, next to the new library table*, a colorful crab and lobster creel, seems almost like crochet, don't you think?

On the other wall a poster from the art book Nus Vestidos (Not So Nude). we found in the most beautiful bookshop Ler Devagar at the LX Factory in Lisbon.
The drawing was made with only a blue, green and red Bic cristal ballpoint.

The drawing is inspired on La Grande Odalisque, the painting by Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres from 1814 (Musée du Louvre, Paris).
We also bought the small art book Nus Vestidos with a collection of drawings of thirteen well-known masterpieces.

* on the desk in the living room, the art-, interior and 'green' books and interior magazines are piled up now. Since I hardly ever work at my desk in the living room, but at the kitchen table.

lingerie cabinet

New on the attic.

A super cute vintage cabinet. Finally a functional and fancy way to store my favorite lingerie.

The moroccan rug I brought home from Marrakech in October, is absolutely in the right place in our attic bedroom.

portuguese beach finds

portuguese beach finds

A collection of ropes we found in the last two weeks.

During our first day on the most south-eastern beach of the Algarve, we found lots of small fishing rope pieces.
A day later we went to the Natural Park Ria Formosa (one of the 7 Natural Wonders of Portugal). On the barrier islands, which only can be reached with small boats, once again we found many pieces of rope and orange floating corks.

So we started to collect them on each beach visit during our roadtrip in Portugal.

At home I have washed the ropes in the baththub and here they are drying on the bathroom floor. I will put them in a big glass jar as a beautiful souvenir of our holiday.

eureka from ourika

marrakech april 2014july gardenjuly gardenjuly gardenjuly gardenjuly garden

The plastic baskets are from Morocco. It took a while but now they are here in our garden.
During the Cool Crochet workshop in April, I've found them at a market place down the Ourika river and got an EUREKA(!)thought...
The baskets have the most marvelous colors and patterns.
I imagined the baskets would look great around the terra cotta pots in our garden.
It looks even better than I imagined. We love it!
