barcelona revisited - ultima dia

Barcelona - Sunday 5th of December - 19188 steps

Waking up at 8:30 am.
On our early morning walk to Park Güell we had breakfast at Buenas Migas on Passeig de Gràcia.

After the last steep part of the firm walk, we arrived just in time for the visit we booked at Park Güell.

An advantage of the timelock is that it's not too busy in the park and you can enjoy the best panoramic views of the city of Barcelona from the mosaic benches.

After wandering through the park, we walked back to La Casa de Antonio via a different route, to pack our bags and check out. Just time enough for drinks & tapas on the terrace of our favorite cafe around the corner.

We took the taxi to the airport and said goodbye to preciosa BCN. Hasta la proxima!

Four days together in Barcelona were phenomenal! We've been home for a week now and are still enjoying the wonderful days of this sunny city trip in December.

Barcelona - Saturday 4th of December - 23740 steps

Breakfast at Federal Café in Barri de Sant Antoni.

Olympic Park tour, which fits perfectly with today's sport theme.

An autumnal walk in Jardines de Joan Maragall with bright blue sky.

Lunch at tapas bar La Mestressa on the Plaça d'Osca.

Cervezas y empanadas before the match at Pizzeria Av.Corrientes.

We visited Camp Nou for the match between FC Barcelona and Real Betis Balompie.

The footballmatch itself was nothing special, but the atmosphere in the stadium and the amazing sky at sunset were amazing.

After the match we walked back to our habitación, another 50 minutes walk.

A quick shower and change for dinner at La Llotja, El Nacional located on Passeig de Gràcia.

Barcelona - Friday 3rd of December - 28752 steps

Before breakfast we visited Palau Güell in El Raval. On the rooftop we were surprised by the spectacular view over the city.

We had breakfast on the terrace at Gran Torina on the inviting Plaça del Duc de Medinaceli.

We continued our walk along the harbour to Barceloneta and wandered the straight streets of the neighborhood. We walked across the Playa de la Barceloneta and enjoyed some empanadas de pollo we bought at Baluard, the best bakery of Barceloneta, at the sculpture L'Estel Ferit (better known as the four twisted cubes).

In the afternoon we thoroughly explored the El Born neighborhood and traversed Parc de la Ciutadella.

Time for another refreshment with olives and tapas on the terrace at Bar Bodega Flassaders 1956 on Plaça de Jaume Sabartés, before we continued the brisk walk to Sagrada Familia.

The construction of Sagrada Familia is always in progress. This time we were able to admire the new huge star on the second tallest tower of the basilica. The star is 7.5 meters wide, weighs about 5.5 tons and is made of steel and glass. We were just a week early to see the star illuminated for the first time, but it was impressive anyway.

Near the Sagrada a garage door was opened just as we passed and we saw our orange Mini Cooper parked in front of the Sagrada.

Via the Passeig de Gracia we walked back to our hotel. We couldn't wait to take off our shoes and lie down before the evening program starts.
