ever-changing interior

november 2023 november 2023 november 2023

Noverber 2023

Same furniture, different setup.

The 'oversized' plants needed more space & daylight. Previously this year, We adopted a 'sad Strelitzia' from Minne. The plant completely recovered in our backyard this summer and had grown to a large size. Now that it's getting colder the houseplant has to go inside. The 'green invasion' called for change.

So we moved my desk in front of the window and 'borrowed' an old table from another corner to create a cozy nook with the tulip chairs.

Everything has been reused, nothing new, but a completely different vibe. We are more than satisfied with the new autumn/winter living room. And luckily we both like moving things around.

christmas 2020

christmas 2020 christmas 2020 christmas 2020 christmas 2020 christmas 2020 christmas 2020

For an extra special and surprising christmas brunch, we've set the table at 'le petit restaurant' in the living room.

Change of scenery creates a different atmosphere. The illusion of being a guest elsewhere, sitting at the table somewhere else, anywhere other than the kitchen table. Using different tableware, that we have not used for a long time.

Try to think positively and creatively despite all the restrictions. A lot is still possible and it felt extra festive to have breakfast at home this morning.

Happy Holidays to you all!

odd objects

ceramic wall vase ceramic wall vase ceramic wall vase ceramic cigale wall vases

Do you recognize this? Being pleasantly surprised by an unexpected shop window.

We spotted a very cool collection of odd objects in a shop window in the Voorstraat of our hometown.

An enormous gathering of animal wall vases, not only the usual cigale, but also swallows, butterflies, dragonflies, beetles... and many other curious stuff and odd objects.

Pooh, it was difficult to choose between all those beautiful and cute wall vases and we allowed ourselves to choose 3 ceramic pieces.

Well we have found a nice spot on the wall for all three of them;

a brightly colored beautiful butterfly in the kitchen
a extraordinary swallow in the bedroom
and another ceramic cigale to join our collection in the living room

december ☆

december december december december december december

Just like last year no Christmas tree in da house, only a few pine- and eucalyptus branches.

The eucalyptus branch is a souvenir from the hotel in Essaouira where we stayed last October. The gardener was pruning the huge eucalyptus trees on the property and I asked him if I could have one to take home with me. The guy looked rather surprised, but he thought it was funny.

I have searched everywhere in the attic for our x-mas hares family this morning, but have not been able to find them yet. Well tomorrow I will make another attempt, because it's no Christmas without our cute traditional hares around.

For now we are okay with the a little extra 'green', a paper star and lots of candles in the run-up to Christmas.

Slowly getting into the Christmas mood...

daybed sofa - paul smith, moroccan style

daybed sofa daybed sofa daybed sofa daybed sofa daybed sofa daybed sofa

Ta-da! our 'new' daybed sofa.

October interior boost! Two unique handwoven moroccan blankets completely changed the look of this corner.

The vintage bamboo daybed is transformed into a striped sofa, by replacing the mishmash of pillows by 3 sturdy pillows.

I sewed three pillow covers and used the fabric of one blanket. The daybed is covered with the another blanket.

It's an utterly different sofa. A sophisticated striped sofa. Paul Smith, moroccan style ;-)

I just love it!

And nothing new was purchased for the change of the daybed corner. Klimt painting and desk lamp on the table, we re-decorated with the things we had. Something I love too.

vintage brandy bottle

vintage brandy bottle vintage brandy bottle vintage brandy bottle

New guy in da house.

A matador. Well, a glass matador.

A vintage (1950s) Brandy Bottle from Lammie Saturday Shop in Dordrecht.

Henk spotted the matador, when he went to Lammie last Saturday, while I was at work. It was a brandy bottle from Lammie's private collection, but she decided to sell this guy in the shop.

Now in our living room with a dried allium, instead of brandy inside. Cheers to the weekend anyway!

monday nook

moroccan wool cool crochet workshop moroccan wool

My monday afternoon nook, from where I'm working on a new crochet project* surrounded by spools of moroccan wool, i've brought home from Marrakech over the years.

A mini 'crochet picnic' on the daybed, after a busy weekend.

not yet completely sure what it will be...
a curtain for my studio?
a daybed cover?
or maybe a baby blanket?

cheers to the weekend

cheers to the weekend

Friday in the late afternoon.

Back home from work. It was pouring outside.

I had been looking forward to this moment all day: lights on, fresh coffee and continue my crochet project.

Cheers to the weekend!

indoor oasis

houseplants houseplants houseplants atelier plants atelier plants

You can never have too many houseplants.

Although we don't have plants everywhere in the house, but clustered together in one place in the kitchen, the 'daybed-side' of the living and in my atelier.

Yesterday I've adopted some green babies (cyperus haspan, banana plant, sparmania africana, mimosa pudica) some of which can go outside in the garden in spring. For the time being they will stay inside for an indoor oasis atmosphere.

light light light

hand knitted blanket - 100% wool

Wow, it feels like it is spring already.

Mid February and the temperatures are rising to serious spring level.

The next few days are filled with sunshine and what I like most about it; the light!

Although we have a rather light living room with white walls and light furniture, it can be quite dark during the winter months. The daybed space evokes the fresh feeling in the afternoon when the shadows of the plant are playing on the wall.

The hand knitted blanket is now for sale in my ETSY SHOP.

Size: 230 x 150 centimeter

Material: 100% New Zealand Wool, hand knitted in Nepal (fairtrade)
