fish on the fence friday

fish on the fence fish eye fish on the fence

Yay, it's Friday!

The last June days have been amazing. We had some long summer evenings this week. Staying outside until sunset.

The cool wooden fish on the garden fence we found last year in Sesimbra on our Portugal road trip. Those are the best souvenirs.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and thumbs up for many more long summer evenings in the garden!

It's easy to explore Menorca in one week if you rent a car.

Every day we visited another village and found out all towns have something unique. On the road in Es Mercadal, we happen to see a craftsman at work, making traditional menorcan wooden fences. They are made from olive trees and you see them everywhere on the island. Sawdust in his workshop was piled everywhere, also on the radio. We, both woodworkers, had a nice conversation.

A little up north, we visited one of the 6 lighthouses on the Island, Cap de Cavalleria.

In the afternoon we headed for a new bright blue bay, Cala Mitjana (thanks for the tip Will). To reach an idyllic bay, you sometimes have to walk for an hour. The effort (with heavy bags filled with water bottles, because there are often no beach bars) was always rewarded.

Menorca is an island full of wonder.

We had the most amazing pink sunset skies on Thursday!
The evening light in our backyard was so beautiful and magical!

The chain on our fence is made of stones and a piece of rope, we've found on the beach of Ile de Ré two years ago.

wood & white

This week we suddenly had a few hours of sunshine in the garden.
I dropped everything and quit what I was working on to go outside and enjoy this moment in the garden. With the sun around the garden looks so summery.
The whites get even whiter and the shadows are stunning. The shadylace parasol remained closed, nonetheless the tiny basket made a nice 'shady lace' effect on the fence.

PS: Can we get back the sunshine, please?!

summer mood garden

summer mood garden

After an hour of hard wood work (on the fence) in the sweltering sun, it's time to enjoy the 'new' fence and Greek yogurt with fresh fruits.

A nice afternoon chill with a basket filled with wool, a crochet needle. Just being lazy and time for a granny square once a while...
