Sidi Kaouki - Paradis d'Amis - 14 november 2025

Sunrise breakfast on the roof terrace. Yesterday's storm is over and we want to take a look around Essaouira before we leave for Taghazout.

In November 2019 we stayed a few nights at Hotel Tangaro, so it was fantastic to revisit all our favorite spots in Essaouira.

In the afternoon we pick up our friend Ank and her sweet little dachshund Billie at Paradis d'Amis, to travel further south along the coast together for another mini-vacation in Taghazout.

A road diversion due to flooding from the storm makes the journey even longer than we expected, but there is plenty to see and admire along the way.

On the way we stop for a coffee break near Imsouane. You'll find the trunk-style coffee cafes all along the road in Morocco. This cafe with beige Renault 4 is especially fun and the guy is super friendly!

In Tamri we make another stop in the peaceful valley. It's famous for its tropical climate, banana trees, and fertile lands where local farmers grow bananas and pumpkins all year round. And of course we buy a bunch of delicious organic mini bananas.

At the end of the afternoon we arrive in Taghazout.

Oualidia - Essaouira 12 November 2025

Morning walk on the beach of the fishermen of Oualidia, before we drive towards Essaouira. And of course we had to try a fresh oyster!

The coastal road is incredibly beautiful, wide and empty with the ocean on the right.

We make (too) many stops to look, take photos and a drink, so this journey takes forever.

We arrive a few minutes late for lunch at Soleil in Essaouira, the chef just closed the kitchen.

Luckily, a little further, we are welcome at the colorful restaurant GiuGiu for a delicious lunch and eyecandy.

After lunch we drive towards the countryside of Sidi Kaouki to finally admire the newly built house of our friend Ank, Paradis d'Amis, for the first time. The last part we have to drive on the unpaved road through the argan orchards, a breathtaking landscape.

After a tour of the garden and the house, we are speechless. So beautiful! This view, the tranquility and the surroundings... Plus a panoramic view from the roof terrace, from where Ank proudly points out to us where the ocean is.

If we want to see the sunset at the ocean, we have to get in the car now and drive to another super cool place, Mellow Beach House, to toast to all new adventures with a cocktail and a beer.

When we drive home in the pitch dark, 'prince de la cuisine' Henk prepares an excellent Oeuf Mayo Paradis. Cheers to the good life!
