summer in june - a la plancha

Rotterdam - 9th of June 2021
A La Plancha is a pop-up restaurant on the Noordereiland, the island in the river Maas in Rotterdam. During spring and summer a terrace is built on the bridgehead of the old Willemsbrug. Sustainable fish, fried on the grill (a la plancha) on the menu. The location and the atmosphere provide a special experience, as if you are on holiday.

Yesterday evening we first had a citywalk and later on dinner in the sunset at the Maas with the four of us; Soufiane, friend and (Noorder)island resident, son Minne and Henk & moi.

Summer in June, carpe diem.

Wednesday 12th of May - 3rd day on the beach 2021

According to the weather forecast today would be a sunny day in between the so-so days with lots of rain.

Last night we decided to have a picnic on the beach.

We left after breakfast and the closer we got to the coast, the bluer the sky...
And it was lovely on the beach, especially in the shelter of the beach cabins.

So 'seize the day' turned out very well today.

Wednesday 30th of March - first day on the beach 2021

Almost two months earlier than last year, according to my blog archive.

Yesterday we decided to make optimum use of the announced summer day in spring.

At half past nine we drove to the coast and had our first coffee on the beach.
We walked along the coastline, had a picnic in the dunes and enjoyed the quiet beach to the fullest.

Once it slowly started to get busier, we went home again but before we drove away we finished leftovers from our brought picnic in the trunk of the Mini Cooper.

In short, a wonderful day, lots of sun, quietness and joy. Carpe diem!
