After a slow Sunday in the desert, we took a taxi ride in an old yellow Mercedes to Guéliz on Monday morning and started with an espresso on a bamboo sofa at the popular Grand café de la Poste.

We walked back to the Medina through the Cyber Park. You might not associate 'cyber park' with a park from the mid eighteenth century. The park is a fascinating experiment in mixing old and new and re-opened in 2005 as a public park. The name Cyber Park is only about the deal that Maroc Telecom would pay for the refurbishment and upkeep of the park, in exchange for the commercial right to exploit part of the site as a multi-media and cyber-space exhibition area and theatre. It's one of the many urban gardens in Marrakech and part of the Green Gardens workshop.

Once we returned within the ancient walls of the medina, we had lunch at the enchanting Hotel El Fenn. (which deserves its own blog post, shortly...)

The second day we went on a roadtrip to the Agafay desert.

We had an amazing day; with a fabulous moroccan lunch in the berber tent, served with Gris and Casablanca, the guys climbed the highest hill, we had a swim in the freezing pool, enjoyed the wonderful views and at the end of the day we watched the sunset on top of the hill.

In the evening we drove back to the hectic city life of magical Marrakech, there is no bigger contrast...

family & friends

marrakech april 2017

To celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, we travelled to Marrakech to share this special event with our children and dearest friends.

The two of us married in 1992, without a party or fuss, this time we did it again our very own way...

One year ago we made a plan to celebrate our love with a small group of loved ones. We have been looking forward to this special journey for a long time.

In our imagination the thought of this trip was already so great, but it was even better than we had ever dreamed of.
It was so very special to have all my sweethearts with me in Marrakech. My husband and best friend Henk, son Minne, daughter Pippa and her friend Joe, our friends Fred, Chris, Jeroen and Rosa.

We started each day with a breakfast in the sun on the roof terrace.

We stayed for six days at hotel Chambres d'Amis and visited the most beautiful spots in the Medina and enjoyed the road trips with our minibus to the High Atlas Mountains and the desert. We had lunch and dinner in all my favorite restaurants and ended each day with drinks on the roof.

You already know that Marrakech is my favorite city (obviously) and being among the people i adore so much, made this trip even more unforgettable.

superbly styled without trying

veggies & colours

A touch of tranquility and pureness in the middle of busy Marrakech.

This is what i love about the Medina...

Moroccan hues.
Colorful vegetables in the street.
A vegetable stall made with crates, in perfect color combinations.

Everything about this is beautiful.

I came across this iPhone photo* this morning, while i was cleaning out my phone storage.
