mirror mirror

bathroom update bathroom update

Today's bathroom update.

Two vintage space age mirrors, one for him, one for her.

We found the first mirror by chance in a vintage shop in Rotterdam last month. I searched online for the second.
The mirrors are from an Ikea collection from 1969 and in perfect condition.

Isn't it special that after all these years they form a perfect pair in our bathroom?
I love those special interior items that make the space unique!

Honestly, I like everything is back to normal.

I'm full of ideas and have lots of plans for 2016. Plenty of new plans for the interior, garden and trips. How about you?

le jardin potager

le jardin potager

I did a magnificent find last Wednesday.
Between a stack of old school posters on the attic of a nearby 'brocante' barn, I came across an original vintage French school poster of a vegetable garden from the fifties.

I had a déjà vu, because the resemblance to the Villa Augustus garden is striking!

The poster was made by Hélène Poirié. It's called Le Jardin Potager and she has made several large posters and illustrations for schools.
The colors are still so fresh and bright.

Obviously the vintage school poster was given a special place in the house...

le soleil

soleil

During a walk through Bayonne on our last vacation day, we found a wonderful vintage design shop, Le Labo Vintage. We had a peek inside and found this beautiful sun!
An appropriate summer souvenir and fits perfectly with the bamboo mirror, we found on a market a few weeks earlier.

After the mirror was carefully packed, the 'vendeuse' proudly told us, we were the first customers and the shop was not yet officially opened... Her husband who was busy decorating the shop, joked; champagne!
The whole situation made our purchase even more amusing.

Lets face it, what's a better souvenir to take home from France? Le soleil!

The vintage bamboo 'sunshine' mirror we found some weeks ago at the 'vide-grenier' in Labenne Ocean. A lovely summer holiday souvenir and what could be more appropriate?

The wood & wool 'sunshine' stool I've made recently for Catherine's birthday.
She lives Down Under and the stool a surprise gift from her daughter.

in a wink

The best thing about the white wooden wall at my desk is, it can be transformed in a wink.

The yellow mirror that we bought this weekend at Lammie's, hangs on the wall now. The mini mirror collection brings beautiful light to the room and reflects the alphabet wall.

Saturday night we had family visiting from St. Petersburg. They treated us to Matrushka dolls and Russian chocolate.

We had a lovely time together.

In the 'new' bathroom
- a funny old bra hanger
- with a sweet new set
- peppermint / eucalyptus bath gel
- Moroccan scrub pads

A delightful retreat and it feels like a real hammam.
Like my dad used to say 'mucket bra!'
