Lisboa - Tuesday 30th of June - day 12 of our roadtrip 2020

The breakfasts at Baixa House are unbeatable.

The evening before, while having drinks at Quiosque Ribeira das Naus and overlooking the Tagus, we decided to cross the river by ferry to visit Almada.

Although we've been in Lisbon so many times, we never crossed the river to visit the imposing statue Cristo-Rei, the hundred meter high monument of Christ on top of the hill.

So after breakfast we left from Cais de Sodré to discover Almada.

We walked along the rio Tejo with amazing view on Lisbon. Restaurant Ponto Final and the elevator to the statue were closed, so there was no other option but to turn around and find another way to the statue.
We had a drink at another river cafe and decided to have lunch in Cacilhas first and then climb up the hill.

After the appetizing sardines at restaurant Cabrita, we walked uphill in the heat and were more than happy when a helpful gentleman offered us a lift.

However the Cristo Rei statue turned out to be closed on Tuesday, but instead we got a private stadium tour at the cult football club Almada Atletico Club (with a football pitch with the best view) across the street and had some drinks in the open-air canteen.

At the end of the afternoon we returned to lisbon and had a short siesta in our apartment.

Before dinner we paid a traditional visit to Tricots Brancal wool heaven in our street, had drinks at Palma Cantina and were just in time to enjoy a delicious pasteis de nata before closing time at Fabrica da Nata.

Henk provided a beautiful Portuguese private dinner at home. The best way to end an awesome day!
