easy like sunday morning

easy like sunday morning

Waking up at nine and getting out of bed at twelve.

Last night we traditionally celebrated a typical Dutch 'pakjesavond' with our family at Pippa's. We had such a lovely and cozy evening together. 'Sinterklaas' gifts under the Christmas tree, for this year it is Pippa's first Christmas tree in her own home. Joky and touching Sinterklaas poems, music and lots of fun memories of pakjesavond when the children were younger.

Perfect weekend sofar.

i'm size cute

xs woodwoolstools xs woodwoolstool xs woodwoolstool

A new collection of xs woodwoolstools, in size cute!

The moroccan stools are handmade of eucalyptus wood and I made 5 unique crochet stool covers. Traditonal ones, like the very first woodwoolstools. I also made a golden, ecru with gold and a multicolored one in linen stitch.

The xs stools are perfect for toddlers, the nursery, as a footstool and you can even use it as a small (bedside) table.

Toddlers love it, they can drag this xs stool anywhere themselves and it will be their favorite piece of furniture in no time.

Have a look at the new size-cute collection in my E T S Y shop.

the s i n t e r k l a a s tree

the s i n t e r k l a a s tree

For those who don't even think about Christmas, until Sinterklaas travels back to Spain...
You can already have that tree and just re-decorate it after 5 December.

Moreover this tiny x-mas tree is ideal for children who love to have a tree in their own bedroom and decorate it themselves!

It's piece of cake and you can change the decoration more than once...

Today is a special day!

It's Dutch Day of Sustainability,
start of the carnaval season,
the day before the arrival of Sinterklaas in my hometown Dordrecht.
and how many people will get married today?

wish you all 11-11-11 happiness!

chocolate letter chandelier

Yay! Sinterklaas is back in Holland.

The chandelier in the restaurant of Villa Augustus, we decorated with traditional chocolate letters (milk, dark and white chocolate) last week. Oh and watch out, if you can't resist to take a bite; the red ones are in vintage metal flavour.

sinterklaas surprise

sinterklaas surprise, originally uploaded by wood & wool stool.

Sinterklaas is an ancient tradition in the Netherlands. We celebrate on December 5 the birthday of Sinterklaas. It's a children matter and the festivity is about Sinterklaas is showering everyone with gifts. Sint also brings a visit to all schools in our country. When children stop believing this old and holy man is bringing a steamship full of gifts from Spain, Madrid to be exact, there is an alternative way to celebrate his birthday. In primary school classmates buy presents for eachother. Determined by lot (must stay secret) they make a homemade 'surprise' with a subtle reference to the present.

My daughter Pippa made a beautiful hand mirror. She cut the shape of a mirror out of box and sticked some aluminum foil on it as reflection. For decoration she used nice pictures from fashion magazines and for the glamor effect some diamants and Romy's name in gold. She bought some eye shadow and nail polish, for make up is a magical gift when you're a 12 year old girl.
