Day & night.

The new pendant light on the ceiling is an alluring wedding anniversary gift from Henk.
Made of terracotta, raffia and fringe, an unusual combination, which fits very well in our mix-don't-match bedroom style.
The light effect on the ceiling is surprising and phenomenal, it adds so much atmosphere.

Our bedroom has such a good vibe, day and night, it feels like a cheerful, comfortable and spacious hotel room.

A new canvas; lilac lemon on blue checks.

The background is inspired by my blue checkered Vans.

And it's not the first time i used a checkered pattern. One year ago i made a xs woodwoolstool with checkered crochet cover, also inspired by my favorite shoes. And moreover spencers, pillows and mittens.

I'm fond of checkered stuff.

Our latest vintage find; a yellow design chair by Gilac, France from the seventies.

The beautifully designed Space Age chair, the design is one-piece molded plastic.

The African electric wire antlers from the stairwell got a prominent place in our bedroom today.

A tiny interior update in our bedroom. Space age meets eclectic style.

xs woodwoolstool - checkered crochet cover

A new xs woodwoolstool design in size cute!

The moroccan stool is handmade of eucalyptus wood from Essaouira.

I made a brandnew cover, with white and pastel colors of the softest moroccan yarn, for the handmade mini-stool.

The checkered crochet cover is inspired on my favorite old Vans and I'm in love with it!

The xs stool is perfect for toddlers, the nursery, as a footstool and you can even use it as a small (bedside) table.

Toddlers love this piece of furniture! They can drag this size-cute stool anywhere themselves.

the new bedroom

Another corner of our new bedroom.

The workspace and television table.

The interior of our much more spacious new room is obviously 'less is more', and we love it that way!

We also reused old pieces and furniture for the decoration of this part of the room.

The table was our previous dining table (a precious 25th birthday gift from my parents) and subsequently used by Minne as a work table. The table top was given a fresh coat of white paint.

A fifteen year old white 'tiny' Sony television.

The table lamp we put together from a new face-base and a reused lampshade we once bought at Cotton & Silk in The Hague.

The bold and vibrant table book Afica Rising by Gestalten is packed with Africa's energy, inspiration, creativity and art.

The handwoven bag is from Nairobi, Kenia.

The vintage boucherouite is an October-2016-souvenir from Marrakech.

I must admit that we also bought something new;
The Panton Chair, a real design classic. The chair was designed in 1960 by Verner Panton and further developed in 1967 in collaboration with Vitra.

The challenge is to keep the room fresh and clear. The balance in the room should not be disturbed by more stuff slowly entering the room...

we booked the bedroom for easter

We booked our new bedroom for the Easter weekend.

We transformed Minne's old bedroom into our new bedroom and moved from the attic to the first floor this weekend. The wall size world map that Henk once painted has remained, but furthermore the room underwent a metamorphosis.

We have been working hard in recent weeks, cleaned thoroughly, made a panelled wall, painted the floor white (twice), finished all the unfinished details from the last 15 years.

We reused most of the furniture, dyed the duvet cover and added some sentimental treasures and art work.

We agreed to buy as little new furniture as possible and we both would style our side of the bed.

This is my side off the bed;
I chose a design classic from Kartell, the componibili as a bedside table and borrowed the H.T. Huang toucan lamp from the living room, which we once found in Palermo.

To compensate for the inescapable stay at home, we treated ourselves with a fresh spacious bedroom.

The end result is far beyond expectations, I think... and I will show you the rest of the room soon.

slow fashion & sustainable souvenirs

Even before the term 'slow fashion' existed, I was already acting this way.

I always preferred original, beautiful and quality fashion to enjoy in a responsible and sustainable way.

Developing a personal, timeless style, is essential to avoid getting sucked into the madness of chasing after the latest trends.

Many items of my clothes- and shoes collection I already have for years, sometimes more than 20 years.

Although some of you might see me as 'Imelda Marcos', in reality it is not that excessive.

The same rule as it comes to interior objects. I try to follow the sustainable style, by buying for example timeless interior souvenirs.

books, blankets & boucherouites

The vintage locker, we bought in 2012, has already been a storage place for many stuff.

Since my entire wool stock has moved to my studio, nowadays there are mainly interior and art books in the middle, paperwork on the right and lots of stuff on the left. The middle one is neat, the others are a mess 🙈

The left compartment needs to be cleaned up and sorted out. I don't feel like it nonetheless, because I know I'm not good at cleaning up long-kept personal items at all. First I take everything out, then the entire room is a mess and in the end 90% of the stuff, will go back inside.

I have to wait until I am in a mood. I'm waiting for spring...

With the easy to follow pattern of 6 pages and chart, you can make this cool blanket yourself in your favorite colors.

The size of the blanket is 1.40 x 1.00 meter, however easy to adjust to a different size.

fishbone ><((('> cactus

Fishbone cactus boasts many colorful names. Ric Rac, Zigzag and Fishbone orchid cactus a few variations on the name of this graceful plant. I just love the shape of the leaves.

I saw the plant for the first time, years ago in London.

The entire windows at the back of the Terence Conran shop were full of these graphically shaped plants.

It was before I was a plant enthusiast and I did not know the name of the plant and called Matisse plant.

Nowadays we have two mature Matisse plants and many baby plants.

Another cool thing about the fishbone cactus is that you can easily replant its cuttings!
