summer beach stripes on the daybed - new burgundy & blue cover

new summer daybed cover with bordeaux & blue stripes new summer daybed cover with bordeaux & blue stripes new summer daybed cover with bordeaux & blue stripes

Summer beach stripes on the daybed.

The vintage bamboo daybed has been in our living room for 10 years now, i had to look that up in my blog archive ;)
Of which 5 years with the cover I've made from moroccan vintage Berber blankets.
High time for a new outfit, sunny stripes! It reminds of warm summer days, with sandy beaches and fresh sea air.

... and we borrowed the smaller striped cushions from the other sofa.

mi casa, mimosa

februari 2024 februari 2024 februari 2024 februari 2024 februari 2024 februari 2024 februari 2024 februari 2024

Wednesday 20th of February

New things on the wall;
A graph by Cees Dolk Les arts florissants 41/50, purchased from our savings at the art library SBK Dordrecht.
A Paris plate by Nathalie Lete for Anthropologie.
A mega ceramic cigale of 30 centimeters.
We had the last two objects in our house for a longer time and they were patiently waiting for a suitable spot on the (kitchen)wall.
I bought the ceramic fennel & beetroot years ago in Marrakech. They always hung outside on the fence in the backyard, but due to the stormy weather of the last few months I took them inside and gave them a safer place.

... and because it's mimosa month, I got a new bunch from henk. For I love it so much! We are eagerly awaiting spring, it's nice inside, but I'm really looking forward to garden life. Is it me or will this winter last forever?

cafe au lait

dahlia cafe au lait dahlia cafe au lait #lekkermetdemeidendaybed

Dazzling cafe au last Dahlias from the garden of my friend Marieke.

Yesterday my friend Marieke came over with her almost three months old daughter Loïs. We more or less spent the entire afternoon together on the daybed. Catching up with Marieke and cuddling with Loïs. We don't see each other not very often and as soon as we are together we always need hours to catch up. We never stop talking, which didn't bother 'mini', she had a two-hour nap on the daybed between us.

Afternoon crochet on the vintage bamboo daybed.

Working on a warm winter shawl, in a very cool crochet technique.
I will show it soon on the blog.

eclectic pixels

daybed daybed daybed

Popping pixels! Love at first sight, when I spotted our 'new' handmade pixel daybed spread.

It's an oldie from eastern europe with a colorful flower border, craftsmanship with an eclectic embroidery technique and lacy crochet.

Last week it was actually laying on our bed end, but I prefer to enjoy it all day, so the bright pixel blanket moved to the daybed in our livingroom.

stripes, socks & bookcover

stripes & socks the year of the runaways red suitcase - london april 2013

Socks in heels. Stipes on stripes. I like it a lot, those unusual combinations.

The red shoes are already ten years old and I hardly wear them, since the sneakers made their entry in my shoe collection.
Every now and then I bring them out of the shoe rack.

This weekend I started to read The Year of the Runaways.
The English translation of a novel by Sunjeev Sahota.
I received the book from India in the mail last week.
Just a few months ago I got a request from Bhavi Mehta to use my [red suitcase] photo from London for the cover of the book.
She said the picture is just right for the story.
I like those unexpected surprising twists.

daybed days

wood & wool harlequin pillow wood & wool harlequin pillow wood & wool harlequin pillow wood & wool harlequin pillow

The stormy November days just make me want to curl up on the daybed. Just to relax a bit and listen to music, doing nothing except maybe a little crochet.

The natural rhythm of winter is to hibernate, so there is nothing strange about this.
Take it easy!

attractive things

attractive thingsattractive thingsattractive things

The daybed is getting more attractive by the day.
Some extra pillows and a cotton throw blanket* from India feel at ease on the sofa.

Our newest green inmate is a gift from Pippa, because it looks like a pineapple on a stalk. It's living in a Moroccan bread basket and is called Eucomis.
Pippa told me it's a garden plant (and it smells), so Eucomis will move to the backyard within a few days.

(* good find Rosa... i love dots!)

bamboo beauty

daybeddaybeddaybed

Our 'new' daybed is the favorite piece of furniture in tha house. A summer afternoon daybed nap is so relaxing.

We found the vintage daybed at Arterior, an interior concept store in Breda and fell instantly in love with this bamboo beauty!

The pineapple pillow* feels completely at ease on the vintage sofa. *you can find the pattern h e r e

I will make another fabric daybed cover to vary the natural linen cover (a tropical leaf fabric or stipes of hand dyed fabric) ... and of course I need to make more daybed pillows...
