we're gonna dream in full color

dream in full color dream in full color

We're gonna dream in full color and sleep like in a 5-star hotel in our brand new Suite 702 bedding.

The name SUITE702 is a nod to the famous Bed-In by John Lennon and Yoko Ono. In 1969, during their honeymoon, they spent a whole week in bed, in Suite 702 of the Hilton Hotel in Amsterdam South. John and Yoko's Bed-In was all about World Peace. In this hectic world of always on, just like John Lenon and Yoko Ono, we should log out more often.

Let's stay in bed for a whole week!

daybed sofa - paul smith, moroccan style

daybed sofa daybed sofa daybed sofa daybed sofa daybed sofa daybed sofa

Ta-da! our 'new' daybed sofa.

October interior boost! Two unique handwoven moroccan blankets completely changed the look of this corner.

The vintage bamboo daybed is transformed into a striped sofa, by replacing the mishmash of pillows by 3 sturdy pillows.

I sewed three pillow covers and used the fabric of one blanket. The daybed is covered with the another blanket.

It's an utterly different sofa. A sophisticated striped sofa. Paul Smith, moroccan style ;-)

I just love it!

And nothing new was purchased for the change of the daybed corner. Klimt painting and desk lamp on the table, we re-decorated with the things we had. Something I love too.

eclectic style

eclectic style eclectic style eclectic style eclectic style

Well, to cut a vintage moroccan handwoven blanket into pieces was the most scary part of my newest project...

A beautiful unique piece! I bought the blanket in Marrakech some years ago.

I'm gonna make some sturdy pillows for our bamboo daybed, so we can also use it as a sofa. And not just to hang on or take a nap on it.

The plan was to make all three covers today. It already took me forever to make the first cut. After a few hours, a couple of broken needles, I finally succeeded to finish only one pillow cover with a zipper at the bottom. The woven fabric is quite a challenge to sew!

Pillow one is done! I am more than satisfied with the result, especially with my average sewing skills it was a tricky project.

Monday I will continue with the two remaining covers. First purchase a few spare needles, before I can continue. At least now I know how to do it and the other two pillows will be 'a piece of cake'.

The advantage of my studio is that I can close the door and leave everything on the floor and don't have to tidy up the mess.

Have a nice and relaxing weekend everyone! ... and some of you may enjoy an extra hour of sleep tonight.

PS: In the next post I will take you back to Essaouira again.

spring forward

spring forward

All that natural light throughout the house!

Spring is definitely in the air.

Can't wait to open the garden doors and live outside more.
Yesterday I've started to work in the garden for a while and pruned the ginkgo tree in our front yard.

Even though we have to be patient, before we can have breakfast in the front yard again.
Well, for the time being, we can start with a cup of tea with a warm woolen cardigan on the garden bench. Nothing wrong with that either.

studio tour

atelier atelier atelier atelier atelier atelier atelier atelier atelier atelier atelier atelier atelier atelier atelier

All the walls in my studio are white now.

I've been painting the only colored wall in my atelier white too last week and it looks so much brighter. Moreover, the sun is shining for days now!

I love white walls! It's the perfect base for all the colorful items in the room.
The wool cabinet, moroccan carpets, framed photos, 'green table' with plants and my handmade pillows in the workspace are making the interior pretty bright and colorful.

It is wonderful to be here and so cool I do not always have to clean up all my stuff...

unique piece for sale

huge harlequin blanket pattern

Cold and grey winter days are making it impossibly hard to get out of bed in the morning.

It's a luxury during the cold winter nights to grab an extra blanket.

This unique harlequin blanket is now for sale in my Etsy shop!
It was a HUGE(!) job to make this bohemian & eclectic blanket, but nevertheless made with a whole lot of love.

The size of this blanket is 235 x 225 cm.

The colors, patterns and textures give your bedroom an instant dash of cheer.

When you don't mind to crochet all those huge harlequins yourself, you can also download the huge harlequin blanket pattern from my Etsy shop.

It's quite a challenge for enthusiastic and eager crochet queens.
A smaller version is easy to handle for everyone and perfect to use all your yarn leftovers.

Cheers to a new week and keep yourself warm!

Without defining our interior as typically eclectic, the unique & eclectic pieces (being brought home as souvenirs over the years) are exactly the pieces that last and make our home our home.

The mix with modern design and vintage furniture, don't make a typically Moroccan appearance.

eclectic pixels

daybed daybed daybed

Popping pixels! Love at first sight, when I spotted our 'new' handmade pixel daybed spread.

It's an oldie from eastern europe with a colorful flower border, craftsmanship with an eclectic embroidery technique and lacy crochet.

Last week it was actually laying on our bed end, but I prefer to enjoy it all day, so the bright pixel blanket moved to the daybed in our livingroom.

An eclectic version of the wood & wool stool. A new design. It's a combination of harlequins, multicolored woolen fringes and natural crochet, inspired by our Moroccan rugs.
I am more than satisfied with the result.
The eclectic stool looks beautiful everywhere in the house.

This unique stool is now in the E T S Y shop.
