upper jugs

The high-pitched collection on top of the kitchen cabinet is a variety of pitchers, jugs and jars in all shapes, sizes, colors and materials.

Except the fact that it's beautiful collection, I do use them piece by piece. They serve as vases, juice jugs and the beautiful pinkish red one - with the attractive spout - is actually a watering can.

shadylace

The shadylace parasol in our garden allows just a little sun to shine through.
We use the parasol for several years now and it's simply a great design by Droog.
It feels like sitting under a tree, gives a beautiful shade and there's even a small bird perched on top.

The past few days we frequently enjoyed the 'dosed' sunshine.
What a weekend!

Lights on, curtains closed.
Time for a relaxing evening in the garden. Enjoy the long weekend!

kitchen

Some guests of Villa Augustus, walk straight into the kitchen instead of the restaurant.

Hence I figured 'writing' [keuken] on the kitchen door might be a solution. It works...

What would we do without masking tape?

wood & wool stool morocco

Last night in the evening sun,
I finished my Moroccan stool cover.

Inspired by a vintage bread basket from Marrakech.

Et voila; this is the new outfit of the very first wood & wool stool, our home stool.

coffee pot

The large watering can looks like a Klaas Gubbels coffee pot.
(I know the garden plants so far needed no extra water at all...)
The handle at the top is very helpful to carry the full can and to aim better.

antwerp - coffee & vinyl

This morning we decided to take a trip to Antwerp.
We started the day with coffee at Coffee & Vinyl in our favorite neighborhood Het Zuid.

A day in Antwerp always feels good!

Every Thursday fresh flowers at Villa Augustus.

Also today on Ascension Day.

In the morning peaceful terrace in the shade.
In the afternoon a crowded terrace in the sun.

What a lovely day!

A grey garland may not sound very festive at all - and the gloomy weather is even less cooperative - but the lace crochet squares appear quite a nice basic merry-maker.

The lamps are from Sissy Boy Homeland and the plate & bucket by Natalie Lete.

the progress of the marrakech case

Meanwhile, this is the progress of the marrakech stool cover,
which is inspired by a vintage Moroccan bread basket, that started here and soon will cover our 'home stool'.

Freestyle stools are my favourites to make.
As with this stool for Chantal; do as you like, if only some blue in it.

who is who?

Being a mother you sometimes see yourself in your child. The last morning at the Aegean Sea the likeness was more visual than I realized... (who is who?)

kusadasi harbour

After a boat trip, visiting a traditional Turkish market in Tire and a couple of lazy beach days, we traveled to Kusadasi (on Pippa's request) by dolmus.

What I like best of Kusadasi is the old harbour, where we enjoyed lunch at a traditional fish restaurant (as it should be with murals and old fashioned interior). We ate delicious fresh sardines.

from emel to the beach

The walks to and from the beach, to me are one of those ultimate holiday moments.

colors of the mosque

On the way back from the market in Tire, we paid a visit to the mosque in the small village of Akyurt.
Our guide Tuncer told us about 'how and what in the mosque'.
Outside the mosque Pippa was greeted by three sweet girls, who had picked flowers for her and loved to pose together.
Before we left, we sipped a cup of Turkish coffee at a local café.

Every Tuesday there is a traditional market in Tire.
It is by far the largest market in the area.
You will find many old crafts and the local farmers come to Tire to sell their fresh vegetables and fruits.
There is a square with women who sell their handmade items such as crocheted flowers, lace and embroidered linens.

aegean sea

On the Turkish west-coast in Güzelçamli there's a paradise called Pension Emel.

Eversince I've spotted this lovely pension with huge Mediterranean garden in Living Magazine (August 2005) it's on my to-go-wish-list. Right decision, because it was heavenly.

Metin & Evelyn created a very cheerful pension, only 300 metres away from the Aegean Sea and a few minutes later you are in the Dilek National Park with beautiful beaches.
