proud as a peacock
The blue harlequin pillow I've made with the wool from South Africa that Cornel brought for me last month, is finished!
The hand-dyed Vinnis bamboo cotton yarn was great to work with and I'm proud as peacock.
Thanks again sweet Cornel! (vanoggend al in gebruik geneem, as ekstra kussing vir 'n ontbyt op die bed)

perforated plant
Swiss Cheese Plant - Gatenplant - Monstera deliciosa. All names for this lovely tropical plant.
In the Jardim Botanico in Lisbon I fell in love with the huge Monstera deliciosa plant this summer. In one of the rooms of our apartment there was a single leaf on the vase.
I've been looking for the plant eversince and it wasn't easy to find one, but last week I've bought a small version at Dille & Kamille in Rotterdam.
The holes make it...

attic planthanger
This beautiful wall macramé planthanger is made by Amanda. She's living in Spain and joined the Cool Crochet workshop in Marrakech with her twinsister Caron, who's living in the UK.
The cheerful twins arrived giggling on the roofgarden on the first evening, just before we started with the welcome dinner and I remember everyone instantly adored the twin girls.
The next day Amanda gave me some very nice, homemade plant hangers. Splendid! One of the hangers is now hanging in our attic bedroom.
Amanda creates wall hangings and all kinds of macrame plant hangers, you can find them in her concept store Esmé and on Instagram @mandeejammo.
Muchas gracias por la perchas de plantas! Love them. (the house is getting greener and greener...)

publication vt wonen
photography by Holly Marder
You can find our home in the newest issue of VT Wonen Binnenkijken and also have a [peek inside] on their website.
Earlier this year Holly Marder came over to Dordrecht to shoot a home tour at our place.
Our home is featured in VT Wonen Home Tour issue december 2015.
"The world in one house. The house of Ingrid and Henk is not easy to fit in one category. Moroccan rugs and accessories, old and vintage tables stand next to souvenirs from France and design classics."

little thing magazine
photography by Chris Richmond
Publication Little Thing magazine issue 42 Autumn.
An Amazing Place
一个了不起的地方
Emily Chalmers (http://www.caravanstyle.com/) and her family stayed at hotel Villa Augustus in the spring of 2015.
Emily and I met by chance in the market shop and I offered to give her a tour.
We had a lovely afternoon and walked through the garden and visited a number of rooms in the water tower. During our tour, I was interviewed by Emily and meanwhile her husband Chris Richmond took photos.
This eventually turned into a beautiful publication about Villa Augustus in the Chinese magazine Little Thing.
Last week I received Little Thing magazine all the way from China and was pleasantly surprised, although I can not read a word... (well except the English headers)
Here you can find more about the Little Thing Autumn {I Have A Shop} issue.

cold ears & christmas eagerness
December is coming. Cold ears & christmas eagerness.
My advice; do not take it all so seriously.

daybed days
The stormy November days just make me want to curl up on the daybed. Just to relax a bit and listen to music, doing nothing except maybe a little crochet.
The natural rhythm of winter is to hibernate, so there is nothing strange about this.
Take it easy!

typography
We are collectors of vintage letters. In and around the house we have metal letters from all over Europe, in all colors, sizes and fonts.
By putting letters together, it looks even cooler I think. A type bench instead of type case.
Last month my husband walked past an old bank building in Madrid, where at that time they were hitting letters with brute force from the wall. The M and upside U were already on the ground and the workers did not understand why Henk would want to take them, but go ahead they said... He had to place for only two letters in his hand luggage.
Now they are part of the collection and along with the other letters we tried to make a word with an anagram maker, but it did not work. So no word, just letters.
The Moroccan bread basket serves as business card storage basket, with cards of nice places all over the world, we took during our trips.

november front yard
A carpet of yellow ginkgo leaves in the front yard.
I have saved a lot of beautiful leaves to dry, before the autumn storm had blown them all away. I don't have a flower press, so I arranged the ginkgo leaves on sheets of paper and stuck them into a heavy book, that I weighted with more have books.
All the leaves are shaped differently, they are all beautiful! I will make a ginkgo herbarium soon.

tea & sesame
Friday afternoon. Drinking Marrakech herbal tea from comic cups and enjoying the last piece of sesame nut bar from the souk.
The sesame nut bar tastes divine and if someone has a good recipe, I would really like to know.
Have a nice weekend everyone!

handwoven rug parade
The new carpet is hand woven, ethnic, modern, herringbone and harlequin all in one!
Altogether it's a very special keepsake, fitting the sofa perfectly and it's warm and snug.
