dahlia fields forever

2022, without a doubt the most exuberant dahlia year!

Every week I think the dahlia season is almost over, but yesterday I picked another beautiful bouquet for our kitchen table.

Sleepover with Pippa & Liam-Novi.

Last year when we were staying for a night at hotel Villa Augustus, Pippa was super pregnant and we agreed that we would do it again with her baby next time.

And so it happened, one week before Liam-Novi's first birthday we booked a gardenroom.

We took maximum advantage of the wonderful Indian summer days; chilling outside on our terrace, walking in the garden, dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and splashing together in the large hotel bath.

24 hours with my sweethearts and we had a blast!

Our giant fishbone cactus keeps on blooming and spreads a wonderful scent.

The Fishbone cactus boasts many colorful names. Ric Rac, Zigzag and Fishbone orchid cactus are only a few variations on the name of this graceful plant.

I just love the shape of the leaves.

I discovered the plant for the very first time in London many years ago.
The entire glass facade in the back of the Terence Conran shop was full of these graphically shaped plants.

It was before I started to become a plant enthusiast and I did not know the name of the plant and called Matisse plant.
