atlas
A day trip to the mountains. Even before we leave Marrakech, we already can see the snowy Atlas peaks crystal clear afar. The road trip itself is already a treat. On the way we took a little break to visit the local market at the river Ourika. After a short bumpy ride we arrive at today's 'cool crochet hangout' with spectacular snow and sun view. But first a delicious lunch on the terrace overlooking the red valley.
After lunch we moved to a perfect spot by the pond, dressed in bikini, to start with the project of the day; a 'traditional' crochet cover for a suitcase size stool. A lot of chatter, lazing in the sun, tea and fun with crisp clear Atlas view!

cacti, camels & crochet
<
An early morning visit to Jardin Majorelle, to enjoy the beautiful garden and birdsongs, before the invasion of the tourists. As soon as it gets busier, we find a quiet spot on the sunny terrace of Café Majorelle for coffee, cookies and crochet class.
Before noon we move on to the desert to have lunch at La Pause and stay there until sunset. Chillin' and bikini top crochet class on the program.
The wide view of the desert hills was a completely different sight this time. Definitely not the first thing you have in mind when you think of a desert landscape....
Due to the unusual amount of rain in Morocco in the last few months, the desert was covered with a green layer. A beautiful sight, especially with the snow-covered Atlas mountain peaks in the background. And of course it's great for nature and agriculture, they got a necessary portion of rain and the people in Morocco are grateful for it!

no matter the weather
Moroccan crochet class with Aisha.
For the very first time we had an indoor crochet class with Aisha inside Cafe des Epices and not on the Place des Epices, like the previous 9 moroccan crochet classes.
Due to the rainy weather and paving work on the place, we found a cozy, warm and comfortable corner inside in the cafe and enjoyed Aisha patient explanation, while sipping verveine tea and Moroccan [cornes de gazelle] pastries.
Aisha also enjoyed this exceptional indoor 'beanie' lesson and I made a beautiful portrait of her.
After the crochet lesson we visited the gallery of Hassan Hajjaj and we had lunch at La Famille, not in the garden but under the porch at the table in the shop.
Right after the lemon meringue pie was served, the sun came back.
No matter the weather, we all had a great day!
Tomorrow it will surely be a kaftan day in the desert...
