first day on the beach 2021
Wednesday 30th of March - first day on the beach 2021
Almost two months earlier than last year, according to my blog archive.
Yesterday we decided to make optimum use of the announced summer day in spring.
At half past nine we drove to the coast and had our first coffee on the beach.
We walked along the coastline, had a picnic in the dunes and enjoyed the quiet beach to the fullest.
Once it slowly started to get busier, we went home again but before we drove away we finished leftovers from our brought picnic in the trunk of the Mini Cooper.
In short, a wonderful day, lots of sun, quietness and joy. Carpe diem!

xl lemon on canvas
Commissioned work for ceramic artist Marleen, an extra large lemon canvas (90x70 cm), slightly larger than the previous lemon series.
Marleen has opted for the colors Moroccan pink & yellow.
Yesterday she came by to pick up the lemon canvas herself.

rotterdam - maastunnel, charlois & het park
On the first day of spring, we drove in our orange Mini Cooper to Rotterdam in the sun.
What a good start of the new season, which we were really looking forward to.
We parked our car near the park, had a coffee to go at Parqiet and walked under the river through the Maas tunnel, to the Charlois district.
The monumental Maastunnel (built in 1942) was renovated, restored and closed for cyclists and walkers, between the summer of 2017 and October 2020.
Charlois is a versatile Rotterdam district with nine neighborhoods, each with its own character.
We explored the oldest part Old Charlois and it almost felt like a village.
After returning to the park, we enjoyed a self-brought lunch with sandwiches and fruit, on a bench in the sun overlooking a bright blue field with oriental star hyacinths.
Bring on spring!

space age
Our latest vintage find; a yellow design chair by Gilac, France from the seventies.
The beautifully designed Space Age chair, the design is one-piece molded plastic.
The African electric wire antlers from the stairwell got a prominent place in our bedroom today.
A tiny interior update in our bedroom. Space age meets eclectic style.

arrival of spring by david hockney
Due to lack of museum visits in this lockdown, i bought the new David Hockney art book by Taschen for Henk.
And we also framed the exhibition poster The Joy of Nature, which we bought in 2019 during the visit to the exhibition in the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.
The poster of Hockney's painting The arrival of spring in Woldgate, fits perfectly at this time of the year. Bring on spring!
At the time, we couldn't find a suitable frame and fixed the Hockney poster on the wall with masking tape in my studio. We decided to adjust the size of the poster to the frame.
