de holland
‘De Holland’ building in my hometown Dordrecht was designed by the quirky architect Sybold van Ravesteyn in 1939.
Nowadays the National Museum of Education is located in the restored building.
Although we pass the building almost weekly, we never had a look inside.
Well it often occurs, you don't visit the 'tourist attractions' in your hometown, like you would in other cities, right?
So we went inside the museum last weekend and were impressed by the interior, light and collection. We had lunch in the 'managers office' of the former insurance company De Holland. The cutlery cases in the restaurant are handmade from old maps. Guess what country was on the map I got?
