london - summer in the city
London - Wednesday 31st of July - 20357 steps
On the occasion of my birthday we planned a city break to London and stayed with my darling cousin Afra and her family.
10:12am Arrival in Leyton
We walked via Coronation Gardens and Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to Victoria Park, where we enjoyed a super tasty Sri Lankan lunch on the terrace at Pavilion Cafe Victoria Park.
Later that afternoon we walked to Hackney, along the Regent's canal with houseboats and the iconic Ethnal Green Gas Holder Station.
We visit the Broadway Market with nice little shops. We bought a book and some postcards at the Broadway bookshop and crossed London Fields, another small park. It's summer in the city, so the shade of the trees provides a pleasant cooling. Short walking break for a drink at Pophams.
After some more walking around and enjoying the energy and summer atmosphere of London, we decided to return to Leyton by metro. We had a lovely evening with the family and Tet prepared a delicious dinner with crispy Jackfruit Karaage, the vegan version of Japanese fried chicken.
Wonderful to be back in London! Henk was there with Minne last March, for me it was already 5 years ago. So high time for a new visit, especially in summer!
